What's the Big Aspen trail system like? Went to IFalls this weekend, saw the brown bike sign on hwy. 53 and followed directions to the trailhead. Didn't have time to explore but it looks like wide, grassy paths. Worth a day trip?

kinda late, or kinda early (depending how you look at it) :etard:, but it might help some one this coming riding season.
Big Aspen is a untapped gem of an area.
rolling, hard-packed ski trails. some singletrack if you use your minds
(eye:crazy:).
if more people would ride these trails throughout the year, they would be kicka--!!
i hit them up a couple times a year. spring and fall are the best times to ride here IMHO.
stay off the blk. trails, big bad rocks hidden by the tall grass!!

anyway Peace,
Joe

I grew up 3 miles from B.A......Ride it often. It's big-ring, technical double track. If you don't pay attention you will go down hard! Alot of good-size climbs/descents. The foliage is kept at bay due to wheeler travel..and they don't tear the trail up bad at all. I often connect them to Birch Knob across hwy 53 via the Taconite trail. Alot of trails around the Lake 14, Lake Leander area as well. Almost entirely doubletrack...fast and fun! Excellant Cheq 40 training grounds.

Also - the gravel road (Pfieffer Lake road) is a nice ride. Go to Pfieffer Lake and jump in...it's clear and cold! Nice camping too.
