I cracked my Cove Stiffee and have narrowed the replacement frame down to eithe a Cove Sanchez or Woodman D-S.
I am going to use this bike primarily for urban / freeriding and trail riding at Theo.

Any opinions on which way to go?

I like the cove bike better. It seems less gimmicky. Its geometry resembles that of a cruiser bike so I would guess that it is very agile.

True, plus I'm leaning towards steel now for my frame. Seems like it will take more abuse and if something happens, it can probably be repaired where aluminum can't.

Steel is where it's at. Plus, with that crash replacement price they're offering, go with the Sanchez.

Might taste a little funny, but what the heck. :D

Is Cove any relation to Dirty? :crazy2: ;)

I dont know how the Woodman DS frames hold up, but I broke 3 of my Woodman trials frames, and numerous others have had issues. I'd steer clear of Woodman. Just my 2cents.

Agreed. Scary stuff, poor customer service too.

What about this frame in the forsale forum? http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18878 $150 and its local. Those are nice frames too.

A friend of mine had a woodman built up two years ago....

Light and fairly strong, as he hit some big stuff on it, the trials frames are a different story and Woodman usualy just replaces them. Sort of a unique bike as no one really has one, but the geo on them is not bad. I'd vote Woodman

Well I decided to go steel.
Just before I committed on the Sanchez, I found a great deal on a .243 Racing DH.
It is insanely heavy duty, weighs 8 lbs, and has great features like a nice standover height, adjustable disc brake mount and horizontal drop-outs with singlespeed tensioning.

The thing is solid as hell and looks sweet. My bike is all black. With the Mazocchi Z1 thru-axle 130mm fork the head angle is 69 deg. Now all I need to do is get some singlespeed cogs, chainring, Gusset 1-er or double six converter and chain. (also need a new bb and rebuild my pedals, got play).

It's heavy, but I'm going to learn to ride it well and it won't break on me.

The woodman looks really trialsy and the cove looks pretty all around. You should go with a cannondale chase good for everything twinports is a dealer i guess. All i know is i can whipe the bike around and i've done some pretty huge drops with it

yes spence, your 360's and that 15 foot drop at the red bull event are awesome!! Ya cannondale can hold up, but to me its how the frame feels, if you like the rake, the playfullness, light... so many things to think about. Sure you can change all this easily, but i'm happy with my se racing x4 flyer 26", really flickable for me, almost landing 3's...

It's a get what feels good, at your price would be my 2 cents

Nice choice. I've the .243 FR frame built up as a 24" urban rig and love it.

FTR the woodman Ds-1 is a great frame and is not that trialsy as far as frames go, copared to things like a Zebdi or jack flash. It is a nice frame that I know makes for a fairly decent hardtail and is burly yet light.
