Not that kind!!;).......Big Pink has finally reached a point where a major overhaul is necessary. This includes a new paint job (she's almost 7 years old). I need ideas on the best available method of removing the old paint. I am probably going over to that place in Plymouth for a powdercoat.
Disclaimer: I will be on gears for awhile. Please do not hold this against me.

For the one frame I've stripped and re-painted, I used some kind of citrus-based stuff I got from Home Depot. Sprayed it on and let it sit overnight and the paint came off pretty easily the next morning with some steel wool. Thick rubber gloves are a must, though - I wouldn't want to even have the slightest chance of touching that stuff - NASTY!

My favorite is Zip Strip. This stuff is nasty and it is awesome. Get a brush and paint it on. Let it sit for twenty minutes and watch as the paint bubbles up right in front of ya. Then use a piece of plastic as a scraper and some steel wool for the smaller nooks and crannies.

I've tried a bunch of other strippers and definately find Zip Strip to do the job the best.

And to echo Joel's thoughts... Gloves and ventilation are a must.

I have seen people just use steel wool, etc. to strip it down. Also, powder coating technology in plymouth is great, but there is a place right downtown that my buddy Nick (who used to be my manager at penn) works at now. Its much more convienient and I am under the impression it is cheaper as well. I can try and get you a name and number if you wish.

It's only 853; I don't think it could withstand that much pressure.;)
I can see the spin now. The bike was PINK. What does that tell you about the rider. Besides that, he didn't think gears were necessary. How do you suppose we are supposed to defeat the enemy without gears.

i've seen media blasted pop cans...

if they can't turn the psi down, do you really want them pc'ing your frame??

There are also different forms of media they can blast with.

The place down town is off of 65 two blocks south of cross town funny how I pedal by daily and now can't remember the name.

Get a can of aircraft stripper, shocking how fast the frame can get stripped with that stuff, don't spray it in your house though.

besides chemical strippers you can sand blast frames but you do need a very fine abrasive.

Powder Plus, but they've recently upped their prices. I believe media blasting and coating a frame is now closer to $90.
