My friend and I were planning on riding memorial Friday the 13th at about noon. I was wondering if anyone was interested in joining us? Weather permitting that is.

Sound like we will be heading up to red wing around noon on saturday if anyone is looking to ride in the cold.

Zip another 40 minutes and hit up Afton Alps with the rest of the morc crew.

Play nice Gus :p ... I'll be hitting up Memorial probably Sunday and then probably Sunday night. Might head to Afton tomorrow, might not... wouldn't mind doing Terrace or Leb or Steeple etc either....

good weekend for leb because most metro riders will be at the summit so leb might actually be only a little bit crowded....

Leb wasn't too full (1/2 full parking lot at about 1 pm... 3/4 at 2:30 when leaving) and was fun. Though the braking bumps are seriously INSANE! I don't really want to complain about the bumpiness as it is mountain biking, but if I rode there all the time I would need to get a FS bike or at least put back on my front shock. Now I know what running a jackhammer for an hour or two feels like.:crazy2:

Terrace Oaks was awesome. Too bad it isn't about 3 miles longer.

I think tomorrow I'm riding from the apartment fixie... swapping over at the bottom of the cowpath... riding as many laps as I can... and then fixie back home... should be sweet weather....

I am surprised there was anyone at Leb. These boards are so lonely today with everyone at Afton...it has to be a record for the least amount of posts in a day.

Ah, it's not that surprising. After I worked in the morning I was going to head up to Afton but realized I'd have to leave about 3-4 o'clock. I wasn't going to pay 30 bucks for a few hours of summiting, so decided to ride instead. Probably wasn't the only one with a similar situation....

Ryan, Thanks for the positive words. I have a lot of help in making those trails sweet. Isaac and Larry help out ALLOT. Keep the wheels rollin.

Stairway to heaven was a fun section and overall the trail had a lot of variety. Good work.

Thanks Ryan! Glad you enjoyed yourself and hope you found everything. The variety is what I love the most about Memorial. That and the climbing.

Pretty much something for everyone. More beginners should come out than do. There are a few sections of singletrack that aren't that intimidating, and there are quite a few loops of doubletrack ski trail with enough hills to give you a work out.

I'd like to add a few more technical sections, preferrably off to the side of the intermediate trails. A rock garden or two would be fun to add a bit of spice, and maybe a well constructed skinny or three. Nothing too garish (at least for my tastes... I prefer a "natural" trail by a lot over tons of man-made stuff). Hmmmmm....

Oh... Gus... when were you out on Sunday? I was up there from about 11-2 or so.... fixie was fun going down the access road... EGADS!
