The trails are all open and dry, we have all the bridges in and the bog monster is in great shape(thanks Jim, Sam, and Craig for Saturday's
trail work).
Those that have'nt ridden the bog, come up for a tight single track loop with a lot
of features

This trail was once known as the most demanding riding around... Not sure what happened but I haven't ridden there since '01 and that was the last time a beatdown 50 mile Blast race held there...

Those 4 lap 50 mile Blast races were the best!!! Finishing one of those on a hardtail was a feat at the time... Especially after going off on of them bridges into the bog creek feet first...

If the Blast Crew brought the 50 Mile Epics back to Milaca I'm there... and I'm sure so will alot of people who like to suffer...

I agree with bringing back the blast races out there. the epic at Milaca was the best!

A milaca epic would be on my short list of events for next year.

Yo Blast Crew---

I'm sure if you brought back the Milica 13+ mile circle of pain at Milaca you would get a turnout that rivaled your races at Hillside...

Nothing against Hillside, I'm all about the Enduro class shindig you host...

By the way "Thanks" to the folks that have been keeping the Milca trails alive...

Is Skyhill still in existance? I heard that it was now residential construction...

Thanks for your comments, I'll pass the request for a Milaca enduro race to the rest of the crew. Sky Hill is still there, we were just discussing it at our meeting tonight. From what we've heard, it should be around for another year or two but yes development will consume about 1/4 of it. Re-routes will be done next summer to plan for this. Now is great time to ride Milaca, it's in great shape!

Yes, the trails are in great shape! My son and I really had a good ride there on Sunday. The trails are varied and challenging with lots of roots and rocks to keep you on your toes. The leaves are mostly down and are getting beat down, but they definitely added to the excitement, especially on Sky Hill! The 14 mile loop was very refreshing to ride.

Bumped into John and another tail worker completing some work on one of the bridges in the Bog Monster, and I have to admit, they have done a lot of good work out there to keep the flow going in some of the low spots and added to the challenge. One of the bridges was quite elevated and seemed like a North Shore stunt.

It is just a great trail in a nice location and only 35 miles north of Hill Side in Elk River. Be sure to drop some coin at the local businesses to show your support of the trails, as a lot of time and money has gone into their construction by the volunteers and clubs. Enjoy the ride! :)

If anyone is up there within the next few days, can you take some picutres of the new bridge and work done this fall? I'd like to include it in my presentation for the Summit. Thanks!

I've got ya covered Ryan. Rode it last weekend and took some pictures. I should have a few of the bridges. I'll try and post 'em up later today.

That is a good question and I should know. I would have to say it is open until snow fly's but I don't know. You will have a great time if you go this weekend but I'll be at the MORC Summit.

There is no close date, only two issues
1. trails are open during deer hunting(trails in city limits) but a great idea to
have some blaze orange on as there is hunting along side the trails.
2. after it snows we have about 6 miles of groomed ski trails, bikes are
welcome on all but these trails in the winter.
ps. we break the Sky Hills trails for snow shoeing, great fun

This might be one of my favorite sections of the trail. Just because by the time you get here, you're ready for an easy going cruise, down a straight trail. :)

We rode Milaca October 15th and it was the best I've ever seen. What a beautiful day, and those pictures were through my eyes! Thanks for sharing them. :D

Did you guys get much rain this last couple of days? Are the conditions still as good as they were last week? Weekend forecast out in Milaca looks pretty good (maybe a bit cold, but low chance of rain).

After reading all the recent posts, I'm convinced that I need to make a trip out there before winter sets in. I live just west of Maple Grove, so I'm figuring it should only take me about 45 to 50 minutes to get there (...just about as far as going to Leb Hills!).

Anything I should worry about if I end up riding out there early Saturday morning, say around 7am or so? Just wondering if the dew is going to be a problem.

Thanks!

I would say the only problem could be the leaves that are covering up some of the trails. The place is well marked, except on some of the maps there isn't that 'you are here' bullseye. Just don't pass up doing the Bog Monster. Also, the first bridge that crosses the creek was relocated. You'll come down this drop and whoops, no bridge. It was just moved further up a bit, maybe 50 feet. You'll find it.

Hey if you ride Milaca, let me know when you are planning to hit it. I was out there last weekend and had a blast. best the trail has looked in 3 years. if you've never been there pack well with water and food, it can take a bit to get around and you may want to reloop areas like the bogmonster more then once. it is an absolute blast.

Looking forward to riding your Milaca trails on Saturday... It's been way too long since last visiting the Bog Monster and all the other traps set along this 13+ mile circle of punishment...

When I heard the BLAST is considering an event at Milaca next year... My first thought was "Yes!!!" another 4 lap 50 mile beatdown!!!

Team Ricoh, Farm Team, mount up, time to derby and ride!!!

Is the answer 3 or 4 laps on Saturday???

Over?

Mind a possible tab along?

When y'all going? What kind of pace will you be riding?

I was thinking of heading out to Milace for a ride this Saturday too. I'd love to do it with someone that's ridden it before.

Thanks for the info, wish I could join you.

Turns out my father in law is interested in joining me for a ride tomorrow and can only go in the afternoon.

He's actually a real trooper for someone that's in his early 60s (regularly bikes with me and my bro's in law out on pretty hairy trails in the mountains of UT, ID, etc., but speed is not his strong suit.

Have fun and if you're still out in the early afternoon perhaps will bump into you !

Milaca is prime!!!

Thanks to Sam of the BLAST for leading us out...

Riccoh Points were given and applied on the 2 lapper...

Bog Monster is sweet... Gotta love swamp gas...

Big thanks goes out to the Milaca diehards that keep that 13 miles of fun in shape... Skyhill was awesome!!! Technical drops, gut buster ups, we (Team Ricoh & Farm Team) got our beatdown fix for sure...

BLAST Epic next year???
