We need to recruit a few volunteers to help construct a boardwalk at Afton Alps this Saturday. This project will help complete a trail that we hope to be riding two weeks from now at The Minnesota Mountain Bike Summit.
The exact work schedule is TBD. John Reents at Afton Alps is offering free trail passes, beverages and lunch for all volunteers.
If you can help out on Saturday, please contact John Reents (John.reents@aftonalps.com) or Troy Sierakowski (troy@jacobsendesigns.com) for details.
Thanks in advance, on behalf of MORC, Afton Alps and The Summit.

Thank you very much, Katie and Jessica. I forwarded a link to this thread to John and Troy, so they know they've got help. Hopefully we can get a few more folks out there on Saturday and make quick work of this.

Just wanted to give this thread a bump. probably wouldn't hurt to have another volunteer or two for this. if you can spare some time for this, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, we got the boardwalk finished on Saturday. The small group of us who built it really liked the way it turned out so, hopefully everyone who rides it will enjoy it. It is very fun!!!!!!

Thanks go out to John R. and Afton for letting us build these types of trails. Next praise goes to Greg H., Katie E. and Jason H. for all the work they did on Sat. I hope everyone enjoys the trails for the Summit. I will be there, so any questions or comments, talk with me then.

I had a great time on saturday!! You guys rock...can't thank you enough! I felt pretty good sunday morning...woke up and rode it again. I posted a few pics of our masterpiece but they don't do it much justice. Now alls we need is a name for the new section. I ran into John golfing yesterday..he gave us the go ahead to name it. Any creative ideas?

The new section flowed quite nice!!! Thanks to Magic, John Reents and the crew that helped construct it!!! The drop in and boardwalk makes it worth bypassing the S-turns... Although the S-turns at speed are still rippen...
If your wondering where this section is located- at the base of the Mid-Mtn. downhill there are the S-turns (in front of the Alps Chalet). Instead of taking the S-turns you go strait across the open slope to the boardwalk crossing a set of waterpipes along a tree line... Very visible as your rolling across the slope, it's marked and cut too...
Gotta figure out what to do with the closed section on the top of Whistler. Trail ends due to construction/ grass reseeded and growing... Bypass around the backside of the chairlift??? Yep, more climbing...
