Anyone ridden the trails at Giants Ridge? I didn't even know there were trails there until this weekend after talking to a Babbitt local.

I have not ridden there, but I do XC ski there at least once a year. From what I can see, the bike trails are more lilke dirt roads where you'd ride on your comfort bike. Every trail that I saw would be easily rideable on a 4-wheeler.

I used to go race there waaaaaaaaay back when. The last time I went just to ride was probably around 2001 or so. The trails are mainly wide open doubletrack for xc ski in the winter. There are some good climbs and "some" good singletrack but not worth the trip IMHO. There is so much potential up there for some great stuff so perhaps in the future........

Like Doug said, possibilities as a destination, but needs the IMBA touch. Lots of 3 and 4 track. Great rocky terrain and the best climbs in the state. There used to be a MTB stage race up there. I raced there in 93, 4 and 5.

...back in the day watching GeneO bomb the "Downhill" race on his ridged Bridgestone...
I cracked the arch on my brand new '95 Judy SL at that race.

A few of us put on an Xterra triathlon (Swim, Mtn Bike, Trail Run) up there last year. Lots of lungbusting XC ski trails but almost no singletrack. I tried to talk them into adding some singletrack and they were interested...if they didn't have to do any work and the trails just appeared. The focus up there is definately on golf during the summer.
If anyone is interested in getting a group of trail builders in the area together, it may be worth running the idea past them...I think they recently switched management...again. John Filander would be the guy to talk to. I can PM you his email if anyone is interested.

John is a great guy. He would put on the Giant's Ridge Festival every year. I think they actually tried to build some singletrack there years ago, but were frustrated by the abundance of rocks.

Now that sounds like fun - and a beautiful place to do it!

I rode up there a couple months ago. The trail map was hard to read and trails were'nt marked very well. The trails are unmaintained; the grass was up to my knees which makes it very difficult to see whats in front of you. It was pretty boring if you ask me but we did get some good climbs in. Nice area though and with good potential!
