Looking for a VERY cheap chain tensioner, don't really care what kind of condition it's in as long as it'll do the trick!

I'm building up my first SS with a real old frame and rigid fork, trying to keep it as inexpensive as possible since I'm a grad student (with a family too) on a budget. In the meanwhile, I'm planning on using an old derailleur till I find one...but it'd sure be nice to get something that's not so clunky, bulky, and inefficient on there.

PS Any such thing as a homebrew chain tensioner?

A lot of people in the trials world build there own tensioner. I would use a derailer with a short cage untill I found a cheap tensioner. Good luck.

i have a surly singulator left over from a previous ss project. it could use a little cleaning up and tlc, but i imagine it's fully functional. would that do the trick?

look at number 8....I always wanted to try it, but no need with two bikes with horizontal dropouts :)

PMs being sent and arrangements being made. Kudos go to Charles for helping out a fellow MORCer!

Thanks and look forward to seeing you at T. Wirth soon!
