Hi everyone,

1st off very nice forum! Sounds like a great bunch of riders just like home. :)

I'm coming up to Thunder Bay to visit my parents next week and I'm thinking of heading to Lutsen for some DH or XC riding. (just over 1 hour drive I think?)

Anyhow, I am not sure of what to think about Lutsen? I've read various reviews. I won't be able to bring my bike, so I'll be renting. I called the shop today and they told me I can rent a Gary Fisher DH bike for the full day for 27$ & 30$ for a lift ricket. Does this sound right? Now down this way, we have a big ski resort with rentals. They charge us 150$(CAN) for a FULL day including full leg armour, arm armour, full face helmet, unlimited gondola lift access. This even includes full insurance coverage on anything bike problems.

I will call the shop again before I leave about the full details of the bike rental & if they included the gear. What I'm really wondering is if it's worth heading to Lutsen for some DH or XC riding. Can anyone give me some information on the latest about Lutsen's trails and anything else of value?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate this very much!

no it does not sound right because Gary Fisher does not even make a dh bike  . Don't even bother going to lutsen it's way more xc than dh. Go to rollin thunder http://www.rollinthunder.ca on algoma st. they rent brodie dh bikes and will hook up with you for a ride or at least point you in the direction of somebody who is going out. You could also stop into cyclepath http://www.weknowbikes.com as their head tech rides dh and could maybe show you around. You could also check out this site http://www.blacksheepmtb.com as it has a pretty sketchy and a little out of date map of mt.mckay. So yah if you follow through on all that you should have a good time in town.

That King Fisher is nice but it's not what they got up at Lutsen.

I was there a few weeks ago and rented a Gary Fisher superxcaliber z9000 hardtail. I liked the bike.
