I just joined MORC about a week ago and I received an email dated on August 10th that my membership will expire on August 30. The email sounds like a scam though so I just deleted - I would hope my membership wouldn't expire so soon!! The email came with an attachment that is supposed to be the pdf of the membership form and the body of the email contains a link to renew online - I didn't open the pdf or click on the link. It just sounded like a scam to me, especially since I just joined. Has anyone else received this email? Is this a real email?
Here is a copy of the email:
Dear Fellow Rider,
I wanted to let you know that your Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) membership will expire August 30th, 2006. Before you forget, go straight to our website and renew online at: (the link was here, but I chose not to include it in this post).
Or, download the attached Membership Form, fill it out and send it to us with a check. Either way works just fine.
In 2005, MORC invested over $74,000 in Minnesota mountain bike trails. This year, we're counting on your support to help us keep trails open, build sustainable new singletrack, and give mountain bikers a voice in land use and access discussions.
We maintain 40 miles of mountain bike trails in Minnesota, and we're working to build over 60 miles of new trail throughout the state in the years ahead. The stakes are big, but so are the challenges – especially since we're a volunteer- driven, nonprofit organization.
If you love the thrill of riding a new trail for the first time as much as I do, renew your membership today and keep MORC working for you.
Thanks,
Brandon Parr
