I am looking at a new HT, cause my k2 zed is a piece. I have no more than 650 to spend. I do singletrack and some urban riding. I am mainly looking at a Specialized hardrock Pro or a Gary Fisher Mullet. If there are any other suggestions let me know. Thanks in advance

I ride lots of singletrack (lebanon, terrace oaks, etc) and some urban like you. I picked up a 2005 Specialized Hardrock Comp w/disc from Eriks for 429.00 at the begining of the summer, I think they're out of the 2005's now but even if you picked up an '06 for a little bit more I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Get the Hardrock, nothing with an RST fork though. I know the low end Hardrock comes stock with those. I think the middle of the road or higher end Hardrocks will work for you though. I'm a Gary Fisher Nazi, don't like em.

Could also look at the Specialized Rockhopper Comp. MSRP is $770, but you can probably find one for about $700.

(choose your region and then it'll show the bike)
That, or the Hardrock Pro Disc. MSRP $710
Nice mix of Avid and SRAM components.

Edit: oops... didn't notice the "no more than" in front of the $650. You could probably find a Hardrock Pro Disc for that price.

I also have the hardrock Comp Pro with disc brakes and it rides great at Leb and so forth. The lower Hardrocks have an RST fork, the Comp moves up to a Marzocchi fork.

I am also in this boat and have found the Rockhopper Comp at Hoigarrds for 599.00. Erik's is supposed to have some RH for 480.00. I am shopping this afternoon, so I will post what I find.

Sorry for the lack of respones, but I did not find anything in my size/price range, so I went to Freewheel and they hooked me up with a new rear wheel.
Good luck.
