Nine of us from Indiana are passing through MN on our way to Maah Daah Hey in mid Sept. We're looking for trails to stop and ride near and SE of Fargo.
Appreciate any input.

As a graduate of NDSU (Fargo, ND) I can say that not much "official" mountain biking exists in that area. Hopefully, someone in the Fargo area can point out some good farm/fire road routes.

If you don't find anything, stop in the Twin Cities...many trails exist here.

You could go to Maplelag and ride. It is about 20 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes. I rode there about a month ago and really liked it, with the exception of deer flies that were swarming around me! They would fly into the slits of my helmet and were chewing me up pretty bad. :crazy2: Thankfully the web-site reports those are pretty much gone, so it would be a much more enjoyable ride.

Maplelag. No cost riding and some excellent scenery to go along with it. Check out the website (www.maplelag.com) for directions, parking information, and where to go for trail maps. You won't regret the stop.

I was just up in the Detroit Lakes area this weekend and rode at a resort called Maplelag. It's about 20 minutes northeast of DL and was I was surprised how good the trail was. It can get pretty technical if you take the single track routes or, if you want you can bomb up and down some cross country ski trails. Google the resort and that will get you a web address and you can get more info there.
