View Full Version : Wanted: Sad old MTB frames

I broke the frame on my commuter bike, so I need a new one. It doesn't have to be cool or high-quality...
Things it does have to be:
>Rigid
>Made for 26" wheels
>Semi-horizontal dropouts
>Sturdy
>Cheap
>Around 19-20" or 58cm -ish, depending.
So at the very least, I need a frame & fork - but if you don't wanna tear something apart, I'll take a complete or semi-complete bike in almost any state of repair. If the price is right, that is... *wink*
Thanks!:etard:

If you like blue, here's your huckleberry. It's heavy at 6+ pounds, but the price is pretty good.

I just noticed the dropouts aren't quite right. Crap! Sorry about that.

Does it have to be MTB?

Does it have to be MTB?
It would be easiest - I'd like to just swap over the parts, and I have a nice fixed 26" wheelset already ready already...
But whatcha got? I'm open to other ideas.
Aaron,
Is a 17.5/18" too small for you?
I've got a '94 Rockhopper frame (threaded hs, semi horiz.) that I may part with. . .
Finding a semi horizontal will be tough. I just scrapped one the other day too. Damn.
What do you have right now? I do have a Gary Fisher Gichee Gummie (sp??) and old Schwinn Sierra, and I'll see what else I can find.

I've got a couple of them in the right size, both with Horizontal dropouts. both are early '90s. Ones a lotus full cr-mo, and the other is a Fuji Thrill. If you want to take a look, PM me.

Got it! Right back atcha.
I found a bike for you! The whole thing for $25 delivered to the Cities even!
It's an old Schwinn Mirada MTB bike. Old school Deore shifters and der, positron 'bat wing' style brakes and horizontal dropouts. It's a totally ridable bike. The frame is the old school SUPER TALL style, horizontal top tube that is pretty much parallel to the ground.
