Can somebody tell me why this is so cheap for a full suspension bike?

Because it's like a target bike

It's just a low end full suspension bike. It's really not intended for anything even semi-serious. The components will not hold up.
If you're looking for a good inexpensive ($500 or so) mountain bike I think this thread will help you out.

At the price point your at I would keep in mind that simpler is better. For instance a $400 hardtail bike will have better components than a $400 full suspension bike. You may want to consider avoiding disc brakes also. If you ride a bike like that hard it is going to break down, so the simpler your ride the less that can go wrong. Hope my $.02 helps!

I've always thought that the Y-frame full suspensions look like a fairly crappy patent, and why is trek stealing ideas from magna... I had some respect for trek, once....

I sold a barely used one of those last fall and considered myself lucky to get $225 for it. This was after my friend had torn the damn thing apart and decided there was nothing usable on it. ;)

Trek introduced the Y-frame back in '95. I believe that they were the first. This bike does look pretty cheap.
