It's after August 1, are the trails open yet?

Yup, they should be! The web site still says open Aug. 1 through Oct. 31. I haven't spoken to anyone there, but they post the number 763-599-6700 in case there are any questions.

I don't normally ride this trail, but if anyone does please post up the conditions etc.

I *think* this might be the last year of riding the "old" trail... so for those that love this trail, enjoy it while it lasts...

My kid(Nick) just came back from doing three laps with my brother (talk about aerobic conditioning) and reported that it's in fine shape with a few small ruts. Be careful, as this is a high-speed, white-knuckle workout like no other. Parking is now free here, so come on out and help take some pressure off Lebanon.

See ya out there...

Glad to hear it was in good shape, I was wondering if the recent rain had done any damage.

3RPD puts a LOT of work (and gravel) into getting the trail ready every season.

Rode Murphey this morning and the trail is a little tacky. Other than that you should hit the hills and watch the sweat pour from your pores.:banana::D

Still very few riders, only two or three at any one time. Trail's in top shape, except for one annoying rut on the big downhill (bad place to catch an edge! 30+mph). Called 3 rivers maintenance and they said they would try and get out there to work out this safety hazard.

My son Nick, 15, and I had a time of <45.0 minutes for two laps. This was measured from the start of the two-way trail.

See ya out there....

Trail is dry and good. Gully has formed down the middle of the big climb, which goes right up the fall-line. Super tough climb, but you can see why it's not sustainable as is. Glad to see a half dozen other riders there, although one greenhorn had to be admonished for riding the reverse direction. Lots of critters too, as always.:)

Saw what looked like evidence of a wipeout at the bottom of the big descent.(Weds. race?) If it was you, and you're reading this, please share your story!

See ya out there...

Is it easy to bike there from Minneapolis?

Is it easy to bike there from Minneapolis?

Maybe,

You have to cross the river at the Bloomington Ferry Bridge and then take Hwy 18 or Hwy 13 south. From where 13 starts heading east instead of north south.

There are a couple of back ways there through neighborhoods off of Hwy 13, or you can just go up to Burnsville Parkway and head south and west or turn at Hwy 27? and then head east on ?

Google maps....

Easy route or easy ride? It is probably 2 miles of steady climbing to get out of the river valley and, just guessing, Murphy is probably 8 miles from the river.

Murphy also isn't the trail to ride if you have already worn yourself out on the road getting there.

There is one serious climb and unless you have the junk to push wide open down the hills to get back up the roller coaster, there is maybe six more after that.

To me, Mpls. to Murphy for a lap or two and then head back would be an impressive ride.

I rode it last Saturday and it was perfect. Lots of leaves hiding a few suprises, but really very fast. The is a large-ish rock just over the summit of one of the hills.

For the first time ever I managed to get up the big hill without walking - twice. Got down to 2 mph, but got up to 43 mph.:D

Raced it saturday. Here is the results: http://freewheelbike.com/page.cfm?PageID=253

Hopefully the trail and races will be a lot more singletrack next year. But that little section of downhill will be missed.
