I am wondering what some of the good tires for riding at leb and other places that have rocks logs ect. I still have the tires that came with the bike and the back ones look like they could be replaced.
I am using 26 x 2.10 right now.
Thanks
Mark
Also I don't want to spend a lot of money on tires so I am also looking for a good deal.

I use to race xc on tioga dh 2.3s, so much grip and a pretty light tire. Helps alot when you get into rocky sections and logs.

I have a pair of Nevegal DTC (dual tread compound) tires with the Stick-E rubber and love them. I run a 2.1 in the front and a 1.95 in the back, but they run large so they have generous volume. They have amazing grip and surprizingly they roll extremely well. For most of the trails in the metro you could get by with less grip, but I also do the MNSCS races and the added bite is really nice. I used to use a Continetal Explorer/Twister combination and it was really fast, but I found myself needing additional traction at times. Especially on short steep climbs and loose corners. My wife runs a pair of Hutchinson Pythons and they work really well for her. They have very little rolling resistance, but a little less bite. If I was just riding the metro trails that would be my pick.

Specialized Roll-X which are a high-vol. 2.1 tire. Very fast with decent grip. Check www.qbike.com (http://www.qbike.com) which will also show if they are on e-bay. I bought (2) of them for $35/shipped. Retail is about $35-40/each.
Continental sells good tires too but are on the narrow side.
WTB is another tire mfg so check them out.

I got these pythons at the beginning of the summer and I have had awesome luck with them. Large Volume, but super light and they roll pretty good for a tire with this much grip. They will for sure save you some weight and the price (2 for $35) cannot be beat.
by no means are these the grippiest tire on the market, but more than good for the stuff around here and the fastest tire I've ever ridden. You can lay your bike over and they really hold a corner.
Pythons are also better than most xc tires on rocks and roots. I had the Gold Elites and really liked the stickiness of the rubber compound.
One downfall not that great for gravel ( you won't find gravel at Leb. anyhow) however anything that is good at gravel has big lugs/spacings and will roll slow.
P.S. I also agree about the trail bears

These guys are all giving you way more info than you need. ANY new knobby tires are better than your worn-out tires.
Take your bike to you Local Bike Shop and say, "I need some new tires for my mountain bike. I have $XX to spend. Whatchu got?"
