Do many 26's ride there these days? I would think many of the locals wouldn't really be too exited about it. I know I would have been annoyed by it a few years ago - but that was when I never thought I would ever ride a 26, and now, well... I race 4X & DH (so much more fun than BMX racing, sorry). I have been riding (trying to anyway) the 20 again lately since I am coming back to minneapolis in September for a wedding and I can't come back home without riding at the village, it just wouldn't be right. Afterall, it is darn near in my parents backyard. I think I'll just bring my 26er - I think my 20 is trying to kill me - my freeking back hurts. Say Hi to Monkey Village for me! I am seriously jealous of the riding in Minneapolis, you don't know how lucky you are. Wanna trade for a few days? Endless mountain singletrack & lift-access DH in Montana for Minneapolis street & Monkey village??? whata-ya say?

Sure, I'll trade ya!!

I spent 4 solid years in Bozeman for college. I'll take what's out there over MN 101 times out of 100. Freaking awsome.

Didn't they build a BMX track/DJ thing out on one end of town a year or two ago (like maybe out 19th by Target)??? I thought I saw something on the internet about it...

you know some of the bmxers out here are lame and dont dig freeriding, but i know a lot of sweet ones, too. the local scene that rides at monkey is pretty chill, so I dont think there will be a problem. if there is, send them my way and ill kick their bums. ha.

Yeah, we built a new BMX race track & a DJ park I'ts pretty nice. the DJ's are nowhere's near what monkey village is, our lines get trashed by little kids playing all over them, no trees either, so it's hard for me to motivate and dig for too long. We just got 20 dumptruck loads of clay dropped off a few weeks ago, this weekend I'll put in some good skid-steer time and get some new lines roughed in, too bad this weekend I'll have to spend so much time building an beginner/intermediate tabletop line I'll probobly never ride. The lines we have so far are too tech for most, there's only about four of us who can ride them, nearly all of who are originally from minnesota or wisconsin - coincidence? Big Sky resort ot here has blown up in the past year, tons of new trails & a (decent, maybe) bike park and a mtn cross track in the works (so they say) Still miss the Twin Cities riding sometimes, Monkey especially, I think if I totalled the time I spent down there, it would easily be into the years, and that would be just when it had jumps - decades if you counted the forts we had. Lots of good memories, glad to see they're still alive and well! Are there riders there most evenings now-a-days? I'd like to ride there when other riders are there, I was always paranoid to ride alone there and break my neck or something. (thanks alot mom!) It would be rad to get a bunch of 26 riders down there some night while I'm back in the end of September. I've never seen a MTB down there before, I'm sure alot has changed in six years...

Oh, yeah- Pete, I'll trade for a week if you want! That goes for everyone! If anyone ever wants to come ride in the Big Sky, there's a spot on our couch for ya. Just hop on 94 heading west and go straight until you hit the Main Street/191 exit in Bozeman (ok so it turns into 90 in Billings - still don't have to turn your steering wheel though) . 40 times easier than the directions to Monkey Village, I guarantee it.
