View Full Version : 24 of Afton, Volunteers Needed Aug. 25 & 26
Hey Everyone!
The 24 hours of Afton is coming up in a month and we will be needing all kinds of volunteers to help pull off the event.
Help is needed in the following areas:
Pre-Race - picking up / delivering supplies
Setup/Registration - friday afternoon, noon to 5 PM
Timing - 3hr shifts throughout friday night and saturday
Teardown/cleanup - Saturday after 5 PM
If any of these interest you, go ahead and post a response. We will be creating schedules and organizing in more detail soon. For now, we just want to get the word out and see who's interested in helping.

i may or maynot be able to do some registration. depends on if i cant get work off that friday.
but i need some more details.
We need about quite a few people over the course of the event so post up if you're interested.
Everyone will get on the job training, so no prior experience is required.
Registration will open around 2 PM on Friday so those that want to work that, will have to take the afternoon off if you work during the day.
As I said before, more details will be coming.

I might be able to help out before the start as I will be participating in the event.
Please keep me on the list for "dark time" timing. I'll be patrolling as well, but can definitely fit in a shift or two as needed. If I can still walk after the event, I'd be happy to help with cleanup.

4:30 is fine. We actually start the racers at 5. I've built in a little bit of time on the front end to get you oriented.

Timing this race is really simple and tons of fun, I've been doing it for the last two years. All you have to do is type a 4 digit number in to the computer when riders go through the finish line. Scott and I will make sure that everything else is working.

well you dont have to stay the whole night, but if you need to chill in a tent, you know ill be there.

I'll be there from Friday afternoon through the evening, manning the MORC tent and generally making myself available to do odd jobs. If the spirit moves me in strange ways, I might even stay overnight.
If anyone else feels like spending some time at the MORC tent on Saturday, let me know. Basically, the tasks involved include watching the race, being sociable, encouraging non-members to sign up, passing out newsletters, accepting membership contributions, and maybe even selling a few of the new t-shirts (designs to be posted soon).

I will be doing patrol most of the time. I can also be available to do some other stuff if needed. Also, I will be around to help tear down at the end.
I might have issues with my ego all weekend......because I think I am going to have to be BikerFox for Halloween this year.....:embarass:

Just come at 2 to be safe. I'll be there around 12 or earlier with others so you wont be alone. Registration will start around 3 if that helps but early would be better so we can get everyone ready.

Yup we appreciated all the hard work that it takes to get an event like this rolling. All the volunteers, the trail builders, the land owners and the sponsors. I got some pics, will be posting them in a few days, how bout you Mike, we'll see yours soon to I hope. At least we didn't finish last. Next year I hope to be in better shape baring any injuries and be able to actually train for this event. :etard:
