I have a 2005 rock shox pike. I think its due for a complete tune. The website for how to do this is http://www.sram.com/_media/techdocs/05PikeSLRaceTeamCoilService.pdf
i would not dare do this, because i have no idea about stuff like this. So i was wondering if there is anyone out there that could do this?

You can take it to your local bike shop and they will send it off to QBP for shock work or do it at the shop. If you just need dust and oil seals then it's not that bad. So if the internals are okay and you have no stanchion wobble you could just get the seals done and put new oil in and have the fork running in no time.

Well i just bought it used on ebay. And everything seems to be 100% but i just would like to make sure. Any idea on how much that tune would cost. From QBP?

Not sure on the cost. Call a good bike shop in the area and they should be able to give you a ballpark price. If it's not leaking oil at the seals and the stanchions don't have any nicks or wobbles you should be fine. I haven't had the chance to take one apart yet, so I don't know how complicated the Pike is. They are a good fork. Is yours a 20mm thru axle or standard QR?

Is it an air fork or coil? Playing around with the settings is all you can do for now. If it's air, try different PSI settings to find what works for you. I can do some research on this fork and get back to you. To bad you live on the other end of the world from me. I would like to take a look at this fork. It's on my top three list for a long travel SC fork. If you can tell me the exact model of the fork, I'll do some digging for you.

Doug, I'm thinking he might need a heavier spring. Is that what you read from this?

Yuppers, if your bottoming out regular like, needs more beef in it. More than likely the seals and such are in tact and fine. Id suggest stepping up to the next weighted spring and be amazed at its wonders. (and you DO want to bottom out every once in a while or your not using your suspension to its fullest)

I'm with ya. Just wanted another wrenches point of view. I told him this is where he should start. Thanks for the backup on my thoughts.:)

I would also ask......is it currently leaking at all? If not id just change springs and let it be until it really needs seals and bushings. Most forks are fine as long they stay sealed up, when they leak then ya needs some work. The suggested time tables for rebuilds are just that "suggested" and most forks as long as you keep em CLEAN, that is make sure the seal areas are always wiped down so grit does not get worked down your ok more than you think.

He just got it and say's that all is fine. So I think the next spring is in order for him to enjoy this fork to it's fullest.

Most shops charge about $60-70 for fork tuneups. If you decide on a shop, take it to Pete at Excelcycle in Excelsior if you can drive that far. He's good with RS forks and won't have to send it to QBP like a lot of shops do.

Anyone know which spring it comes with stock?
