Since I don't have any lights for my C'Dale, I'm doing the 24 of Afton, and I have a tiny budget, I am wondering if anyone has experience with the Blackburn System X3.
Or if anyone has a recommendation for a good light set up, enough for a 24 hour race and at about $100 to $150.
Thanks

You just opend a huge can of worms that's been hashed out pretty well already. Check posts on MORC back about 6 months, and do a search for DIY lights, and you should find a bunch of stuff posted already on economical lighting solutions that will make your night a success.

I know I know, noobie mistake to ask something thats been hashed, rehashed, deep fat fried, and twice baked. I got Bob's recipe for the Homebrew Part 2.
Although the thought remains of any lights that I shouldn't even waste my time in buying? I know a commupter light will not be good enough for the trail.

Here are the 2 How To's created by Bob. I made one of these for the 24HOA last year and had more than enough light!
My teammates all thought I was crazy for building a light, but in the end they all wanted one!:D
I made this version, worked well for Afton:

And here is the super cheap way, but heavier battery:

There is a good thread w/ lots of info beyond those "How To's" in the GEAR sectio of the forum.
Good Luck,
Brandon
P.S. The Blackburn doesn't look too bad, but building lights is SO FUN!, and will get you a brighter light.

Thanks Brandon. I'm afraid that I will zap myself but I'll give it a shot. I could always hang a lantern from my handle bars.
