Looky what I found, pulled from MNBMX I was alittle shocked to see and the fact that no one work at leb has mentioned that I know of...So if you want DJs that are legit here's the spot.

Bike Park

To see if there is currently dirt installed for the Bike Park, call Eagan Parks & Recreation at (651) 675-5500.
Bikers in Eagan have a unique opportunity. It’s not often that athletes have a chance to create their own practice area or create the shape and layout of their equipment. The Eagan Bike Parks located at Ridgecliff Park and Pilot Knob Park offer bikers just that - the ability to change the jumps and create a different experience every time they use it.

Dirt mounds have been installed inside the hockey rinks at Ridgecliff Park and Pilot Knob Park. Bikers and their friends are welcome to move these dirt mounds and create jumps that suit them. Just bring a shovel and creativity.

As long as the jumps don’t reach an unreasonable height (please try to keep them about 3’ to 4’ high), there are no obvious safety hazards, and no other equipment is brought into the park such as picnic tables or garbage cans, bikers have the freedom to customize their park.

The Bike Park is free of charge, and open during regular park hours, from dawn to dark. Dirt is installed seasonally; it generally takes about three weeks of dry weather for the turf on the hockey rinks to be dry enough to install the dirt.

I think I might go check that out tomorrow night.

I saw these dirt piles a few years ago in the hockey rink by Leb.

I had no idea they were intended to be dirt jumps! From what I remember about their shape, nobody else did either. I haven't even riden by the rink since then.

It is just on the other side of the ball fields north of the Leb. parking lot.

Yeah then there is another spot further north that also has dirt! I wonder if they are still dumping dirt there>

<-- is Dead10 on mnbmx

From the response I got on the mnbmx post. I guess they really dont support this that much. I'm think'n of calling the number on the page and see if there is still support for this.

One Big thing is I hope they dont get dozed over every fall. Thats alot of work year after year.. unless you just build one nice big jump..

I'd be willing to bet they do get dozed over if they are building them in hockey rinks at parks. I don't think I've seen a hockey rink in a public park around here that isn't watered and iced over for hockey in the winter... but I could be wrong on these.

yes - they are iced over in the winter - they are hockkey rinks after all. My kid has played on them the fast few winters.

Last year, I saw the jumps in the Pilot Knob Park hockey rink. I had assumed that the dirt was there for the rink, but that the local kids had snuck in and built a jump course. Way cool!

It wasn't there early this year, but haven't been there in a couple weeks. It's a great idea to just dump some dirt and let the riders "play in the sandbox".

Once something is built, I'll probably stop over and putt around. Wonder what they'll say when they see an old fart on a 29er?

Probably something like "Hey, look at the old fart on the 29'er."

I stoped by the Eagan Free Skate Park tonight. Just behind the park is a nice size area with pre made "unshaped" mounds of dirt. It looks like it would stay through the winter. Its not in a rink.

Would people want to put some shovel time in?

The Pilot Knob Park Hockey Rink is empty this year. I ride by it every day to work. I have seen Little jumps there but nothing to OOO and Awh over

Maybe its time to re approach them as MORC? Skillz park possibilities! seems that it would be popular once it was built, and heck skinnies and the like are super easy to put up and take down, along side some DJs that'd be pretty cool!

i love skinnies! ther so much fun along with dirtjumps. We got some skinnies in with our dirt jumps, jumpin up onto skinnies and off onto dirt landing then to straight up dirtjumps and what not. Took alot of time cuz we did it with 3 people so it took 2 months and the city might tear it down now cuz a cop came down on us today and watched me biff it bad off a hip. I'm not walkin right right now so that might be part of it. Next time i'm down at leb i'll have to check this dirt jump thing out! later

It might be worthwhile for several people to call (or stop by) and tell them that you are definitely interested. Since it seems to be already approved, it might be a no-brainer for them.

I just called the park and they put me in touch with some one that know about the area behind the skate park. I left a voice mail with the guy in charge. I will let you know when I have more information.
