Pardon my ignorance, but I'm a Minneapolitan who will be spending part of a weekend with family at Thomsonite Beach resort. As I only have a faint idea about where this place is with regards to other places, and have been having a hard time reconciling their website (http://www.thomsonite.com/location/index.html) with the Morc list of Northeastern MN trails, I thought I'd check here to see if anyone could recommend a good loop or two.

Also, for what it's worth, I ride a Surly 1x1 geared 32x16 free.

Thanks.

I've since discovered that this is in or near Lutsen, and not very far from Grand Marais.

I'm not a seasoned DH rider, either.

There are some other posts to this effect, but the guys to get ahold of up there are Jeff Lynch at Sawtooth Outfitters (http://www.sawtoothoutfitters.com) in Tofte and Mark Spinler at Superior North Outdoors (http://www.superiornorthoutdoor.com) in Grand Marais. Spinler's website even hints at, and shows some pictures of the type of rides available in the northwoods. But seek and ye shall find...they are not listed on the Web. You have to ask.

You will, of course, be sworn to secrecy before you are allowed to come back to the Cities. ;)

Make sure you take the Mountain Biker's 10 Essentials (http://www.wintersnowtrails.org/biketravel.htm) whenever you ride in serious backcountry like the Superior National Forest

Ride safe,

Thanks, I just sent an e-mail to Superior North Outdoors. I'll be sure to blab all the secrets on this board as soon as I learn them.

Daniel,
Did you ever head up and ride? We plan on heading up in a few weeks and were looking for some single track. Any tips appreciated. PM me if you want to keep things on the D.L.

Thanks,
Jason
