As some of you may have heard, The Winona Cherry Bomb will not take place this year. I would like to let everyone know that the reason for this is beyond our control at this time. The MN DOT closed the bridge that accesses our race site (the one laner that had no railings) shortly after last years race, siting sub-standard safety issues. Mostly because there were no railings on the bridge. The township that owns the bridge and the MN DNR are working on repairing and refurbishing the bridge, but do to budget cuts and goverment red tape, cannot assure us that the bridge will be done in time to hold the race. We had to make the hard decision to take a one year hiatus from putting on the race rather than trying to put on a substandard event that could be canceled. We do intend to return to the Minnesota race scene in 2004 and hope that this bump in the road doesn't let racers forget our event and the great riding we have in Winona. The course is still open to all to ride, and we hope to see all of you at the MN races this year and in years to come!
