So last night, I rode Theo Worth trails for the second time. I finally got my new mountain bike and decided to take it out and get better and back in touch with this whole mtn biking thing. After showing up and realizing my friend and I were the only morons not wearing helmets, I knew the night was going to be quite an experience...10 years out of the sport...new bike...no helmet...2nd time on trail. Well, it was amazing...except two things...I went over my handle bars on what could have been a beautiful brake stand (endo) into a small tree but was able to catch myself in mid-air somehow and ride away with only a scrapped knee...and I followed two guys off onto the very rough technical trail where I almost wet myself. As I rode through the woods I imagined one of those personal ads I could take out in local mags to aleviate some of my near tree-hugging experiences. It would probably look like this:

Married white male seeking mountain bike companion. Have been outta the scene for quite some time and looking for someone to gently ease me back into the sport. Must have up-to-date First Aid experience...EMT a bonus. Hoping for someone with hawk-like vision and the vocal ability to shout "ROCK" from quite a distance. Will have a gentle shoulder to cry on when I can't seem to make it over those damn logs and stay ON my bike. A mechanical knowledge of moutain biking maintanence is a bonus (especially truing of rims). Am available to ride at any time, but best when trail is as easy as possible. Would love to hear from you...call me!

Hahahahaha! But on the serious side, I had so much fun on the trails and got another friend addicted! Thanks to all you guys out there that are kind riders and not laughing at my seriously poser-like abilities...I was the one standing in the woods on the side of the trail letting you pass. What a great night!!

I just started to mountain bike myself. I rode my second trail last night (Terrace Oaks (http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26)). My friend and I rode Mammoth Trail (http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=73) monday night. I finally "graduated" from my single speed BMX, I told myself I'd never do it but alas I am riding with gears and having a blast. I also haven't gotten myself a helmet yet but intend to soon, I understand the "crazy looks" you're talking about, haha. Glad to hear your getting back into it and having a blast! I know I am.

By the way, nice ad it's hilarious!

I have a helmet that one of you two can just HAVE. I only wore it a couple of time before I got the one that I currently have now. I work and live in St. Paul, so if you are interested , let me know.

Make sure you come to the Theo Monday night rides. They start at 6:00 and we meet at the old Kenwood Cyclery and ride to the trail from there.

This is a great ride for beginners, women, and well...anyone. We treat it as a very casual and social ride, not a "who is the fastest" ride. Hope to see you there. PM me if you need directions to the meeting spot or post up that you need directions, many will show you.....:)

Welcome to the sport omni, it's pretty addicting! Oh, and if someone tells you to check out Lebanon Hills, I would encourage you to read up on the forums here what you are getting into before you go...I did that last night, and wow...I am glad I am informed now!

Seejames, I would be interested in checking that helmet out, we should find a time to meet...are you going to Theo Worth anytime soon?

manual63, thanks for the info...I will have to look into that. I just need to spend some more time on the trail getting familiar with it and learning how my new bike works out.

Anybody have any tips on how to bunny hop on a full suspension bike? I am not used to that kind of bike and although the bike only weighs aboutg 25lbs, I can't seem to get much air...and do you guys bunny hop over the logs, or just ride over them? Thanks!

Make sure you check out the Riding Tips section of the forums. There is info on how to do a lot of things, including bunny hopping.

It is cool to see so many newer riders and people interested in the trails!
