Does anyone have any info on the 'Jail Trail'?
I'll be in St. Cloud with my family next week and plan to hit up Plum Creek assuming it's open (don't know why it wouldn't be). I'd also like to ride the Jail Trail but don't know anything about it.
An older post mentioned it, does anybody know what it's like, how to get there, etc?
Thanks

Try this site:

They are running the last Minnesota off road race and the jail trail is the course.
Have fun and let us know how it is.

Supposedly there is a Jail Trail under construction. I don't think it's quite finished yet. I only heard rumors so I may be wrong.

Thanks for the website. It's a little unclear whether it's open or not, the 2 events to be held there aren't until September.
If it ends up being close to my parents house, I'll definitely check it out.

The trail is still being worked on but IS open. Approximately 3.5 to 4 miles of tight single track, in what I consider St Cloud's best setting (if you can ignore the 30 ft granite wall of the Pen that shows up occasionally).
Street parking only, park 1/2 block north of Minnesota BLVD on 15th St SE. There's a large sign that says "North Loop", that's the start and finish, look for the single track start sign just north of the Loop sign.
Here's a MAP of the intersection (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=15th%20Ave%20Se%20%26%20Minnesota%20Blvd&city=Saint%20Cloud&state=MN&zipcode=56304&country=US&geodiff=1) that is nearest the start point.
Enjoy.
EDIT: Some of the Plum Creek trail has weeds over growing it, unless someone cleaned it up recently expect some itchy shins unless that stuff doesn't bother you much. Still a fun ride however.

Dave K - thanks for the info, now I'll definitely hit Jail Trail. If I see anyone coming over the wall I'll just ride faster.

The jail trail doesn't have much of an elevation change... no long climbs or downhills. It seems to be relatively flat. None the less, a nice little ride in the woods.

Yeah, there isn't really anything in St Cloud beyond "a nice little ride in the woods."
Yep, mostly flat, no big changes in elevation. Watch out for the damn deer however, it jumped immediately next to the trail and sent me into a tree last week...good thing I was going slow at the time. :)
