Awww man, that sucks. Josh, you come see me. I'll get you a T-shirt and a can of Kronik.
Here's my sketch of the track layout. We haven't started building it yet, so no pics for you yet. I will have some next Monday.
There is a 10 ft. drop in the middle of the site that we are using to our advantage. We will build a roll in on top of it for the dirt jump contest, so we should be able to get some good amplitude. Sorry, but in the sketch below, the dirt jump doubles were the hardest part to sketch. We will try to have more jumps and more lines than what is shown.
Thanks,
Smitty

Right on John, but it ain't just for DH and FR guys. Anyone who ever raced BMX or MountainCross, or ever wanted to, this is your chance to give it a try without buying an ABA or NORBA membership. All the jumps will "rollable" - you don't have to air it out just to get over the jumps. Show up around 9 AM, you can practice on the course for an hour or two.

This just in! Sara (Hawkins) Carlson of Park heard about the DIG and liked what she heard. She volunteered to send a load of Park Tool swag our way! This is super sweet of Park considering the T-shirts are already at the printers, so we can't get the Park logo on there.
But anyway, now every DIG participant will be entered in a drawing for a Park PCS-1 workstand, and other cool stuff will get flowed like Bottle Tools, Pizza Tools and Chainmates....
Big ups to Park Tool!

BJump! Tomorrow!
I'll be heading up there tomorrow morning. Any other people who haven't posted going to make it.
I just noticed today that they have a clydesdale class (+200 lbs), SICK. Finally us sasquatches can race against other hairy monsters willing to support their weight on two rubber wheels. That's awesome. ha ha

I should be there just watching. I'll have the trials bike as well to help out in the 'trials demo'.

I've dropped too much weight recently to be a Clydesdale. ;)
I am still looking for a pair of dirt tires for my 20". If anybody has a set they could lend me for the day that would be great.

Talk to Josh at Xtreme. He has them. Can bring them. I'm sure he'd gladly sell you some.

Good times!
Thanks Paul for putting this together!
It was good to meet some of you guys out there. I liked seeing the trials demo, but for the time being I'll stick to doing more flatland and trying some street and park on my 20".
If more of you were there and I didn't meet you, chime up. I remember most of the faces and can put 2 and 2 together. ;)

Very good time! Smitty is the man. For those of you that didn't show.....
You missed out. Glad to see and meet everyone there.
Huge thanks to Smitty for hosting this event. I can imagine how much work it was. I think it was one of the most fun events all year.

It was fun. Glad I showed up even though I could't ride. Smitty's did a great job for this race and I can't wait to get a downhill related event in the cities. This event got me stoked about it. I loved the tshirts and have lots of pics to post. I will provide a link to photobucket once I get them all up. I think my heart finally slowed down from all the energy drinks.

We were able to keep the course wet enough to make it workable - thankfully. We won't measure the event success by rider turnout. It was a little smaller turnout than planned, but of course if an event gets too big, then that detracts from the fun. Gotta say, I was disappointed in the Freerider turnout. Only 3 jumpers on MTBs, compared 10 in the BMX class. On the racing side, we had no racers in the MTB SingleSpeed class, Thor was the only one who entered the Clydesdale class, so we didn't run that class either. Thor I hope we returned your entry fee (I wasn't keeping track of that stuff...) Thor, thanks for not making me race against you in Clydesdale! It occurred to me, but then I decided I had enough to worry about! I am sure I made the right decision on that, too.

Still looks awesome! Are they going to be leaving the course up for a little while? I'd be game to trek over and shoot some footy of it with my gear since I wasn't able to make it over the weekend!

I donno what the city is going to do about it (leave it or plow it - I never asked them - its their problem now!) Without constant watering and maintenance, I don't think it is going to stay ridable. I'm not going to keep it up, we already have another set of trails right in my backyard, and I have trouble staying on top of that!
