There will be a clinic for kids on Sept 16th. The amount of kids we can allow and the age ranges depends on who I can get to help. I really need someone who can teach a younger group, which might be more like just having fun than teaching. It would probably be 3-6th graders or something. I plan to teach 6th and up and could use help with that too.
Let me know if you are interested. This will be in the morning that Saturday at Salem Hills (if that name sticks this time...:) )

I should be able to help. Plus, I have a 3rd grader that would love to take the class (once I tell him he will love it ;) )

That would be cool if you can help. Is he a student in Inver Grove Heights? This is organized through their parks system, so I am not sure what qualifications have to be met for kids to enter. I will see if I can get some more info on this, but keep in mind, this is not a MORC skill session like the other ones I put on. They just asked MORC for help on doing sessions for their parks.

If you help, it would not be a lot of teaching, mostly just helping younger kids and getting them excited about riding. The younger kids will have a harder time having interest in and paying attention to detailed instruction, so for them, it will most likely be just riding around and having fun with someone to help them out a bit. By allowing the younger kids, it will help promote the sport and help parents who have both older and younger kids show up and not have to find someone watch the younger ones.

So, the kids will have theri own bike, and you are showing them how to ride a certian part of the trail? Is this something that parents just drop their kids off to do, or will the parents be there too? I have done some volunteering with Junior Achievements, and that age group is real tough to keep any sort of attention.

Thanks Maria. I got your email and will contact my contact to get in contact with other contacts so everyone is contacted and gets this figured out.....:)
The date is set for Sept 30th now since that big huge race in Wisconsin is going to happen on the 16th and I plan to patrol it.
