Trails in G.R.?

So...I'm headed up to Grand Rapids to visit my Grandparents on Prairie Lake. They stay at Prairie Lake Campground just off of 38 and cty 49. I am wondering where the mtb trails are up there and if I would be able to find/ navigate them myself. Any information would be much appreciated! Thanks and good on ya!:D

I would suggest a call to Dave or Chandra at Itasca Trail Sports in Grand Rapids @ 218 326-1716. There is a nice variety of trails depending on the level of challenge you are looking for. Our chapter "Mesabi Mountain Bikers" has just started some group rides which would also be good if they happen when you're here. I plan to take some boys scouts on the Taconite trail off of county 61, Coleraine cutoff, I've heard it is dry for riding in and it goes into the mine dumps. There are some challenging trails around Tioga Pit, We are proposing trail building in some county land adjacent to Legion Park in Grand Rapids. I'm terrible at giving directions so I'll pass of duty to the LBS! The bugs are generally bad up here, but only if you stop moving!
