Hi Porter...
Would be, but I'll be up in Cass Lake for the Chippewa Triatlon this weekend. Hopefully you can find someone to hit the trails with (though you know your way around probably better than me.... )

You and Gus should hook up. You like to talk and he likes to stop every 100 yards to take a break. I'll actually mention it to him tonight on the group ride since I'm not sure he has a computer that works at the moment.

Actually Jason, I totally forgot that you are in RW. My apologies man! If you're up for a ride that would rock. I am going to try and ride around 9am or so.

I would be game but I am on the committee that puts on the annual "udder run" that morning, if anyone feels like running five miles stop on over.

Just letting others know that'll I'll be riding. There will definitely be other times! I get down there a decent amount since my parents still live there.

34:15! not related to anything.. just sayin
Mike, don't let Porter get in your mind.... by 9 am on Saturday I hope to be 7 miles (or more) into the first leg of my triathlon... 43 miles to go
One of these weekends I'd like to do a Holzinger - Kruger Unit - Steeplechase - Memorial ride... driving of course... though would make a sweet weekend if it was all biked.... hmmmmm

Is kruger legal? I've hiked there but bikes may be off limits, that wouldn't stop me from doing though if you do... let me check the DNR site.

I know that a couple of the units down there are legal for mountain biking... I thought I heard Krueger was one of them (why I mentioned it)...
Ok... looked at some downloaded PDF maps and it looks like Krueger might not be open to biking (no biking trail symbol in the legend... I didn't see any "Biking Prohibited"...), but the Trout Valley unit and Bronk unit appear to for sure allow biking. No clue what they are like though.

Just north of Winona is the state forest where they hold/held the Cherry Bomb MTB Race. The trails are decent. Good climbing! Fun stuff.

GRRRRREAT RIDE Saturday Morning! Trails need a little trimming though. Face whippers are no fun!

I have ridden Kruger a few weeks ago, Pretty fun, lots of climbing, fun down hills, great scenery!!!!
Trout Valley is Ok I guess, watch out for ATV traffic and the dust they create.
Snake Creek (a little further South on Hwy 61) is more fun in my opinion. A roller coaster with some good climbs. The later you ride there in the season the more face slappers there are. ATV traffic here as well.
Also in the same area with some killer singletrack is the Theilman bottoms. Open to Horses and hikers/mountain bikers only except twice a year the trails get used by motorcycles and the trails get burned in really well. One of my favorite places to ride.

Yeah, yeah... guess you're finally on to me...
Good luck this weekend Gus... and to keep it off topic... if I purchased a weed trimmer or some kind would you be able to store/transport it and it's gas? We need more than one trimmer, and I don't want you to buy a second one when yours works perfectly.
Back on topic.... anyone riding this weekend? I might actually be in town (though I think Sunday I'll be racing at Afton) for once, and I'm almost recovered from the tri last week.

I might ride later tonight, that is if it doesn't rain before sunset.

Snake Creek has two trail systems. The south trail is open to ATV's. The north is only open to human powered transport. I was riding the south trail last week. Very overgrown in spots. It would help to get a few people to ride the loop a few times to knock some oof the brush down. Let me know if interested. I woulkd love to showcase this hidden treat!
