Trail Work/Ride 5:30 5/22

Hello All,

We will have our first trailwork session Monday evening. Pretty low key for the first session.

The plan is to walk or ride the trail carrying small hand nippers or hand saws and trim back all face slappers and overgrowth. Also stopping to clear the trail of deadfall and other debris.

We'll meet at 5:30 at the Rec. Center trailhead on Winthrop.

I should be able to meet up there with you, just have to check with the wife and new born. (sorry three week old.)

If I come I willl bring a hand saw and nippers. Should the nippers be long handle or hand size?

I have a number of long handled loppers for people to use. If you have them, I'd bring the handheld type.

Great first session last night. A big thanks to all that came out for trail work. We had a nice crew of about 8 people.

We trimmed a lot of brush and deadfall from the edge of the trail. Making some trails now rideable again that were in jeopardy of being completely overgrown. A group on bikes hit the north part of the park around The Bowl and also Jesus Saves and the North Rim. The rest of us hit the trails around the Rec Center. The only section we missed is the singletrack downhill from the top figure 8 ski trails that leads down to lower afton road and into Ferngully. That section will need to be trimmed yet.

Also thanks to Jeff for the refreshing beverages!
