Just a shout out to Wirth regulars that live in the GV, SLP, Mpls area.
The American Legion off of GV Road and 100 is struggling due to loss of smoking clients. Now smokeless, it has cheap cold beer and the best fresh or frozen bar pizza around (Heggies).
I'd encourage all inclined to post ride refreshment to at least check it out once.
Don't miss out on the "meat raffle". Fan-tastic.

This place really ought to be an automatic post-group ride stop. Let's get a Thursday night Legion ride going! I wonder if they would be cool with MTB'ers parking in their gargantuan lot?

Tap beers? Prices? This sounds very interesting.
Let's meat!

$3 for chilled mugs of ice cold tap beers or your favorite call drink. Plenty of room for parking and butts at the bar. Outdoor patio too.
Totally laid back. They're happy to see anyone willing to buy a drink. They don't even have the funds to sponsor kids baseball this year due to a 30% drop in revenues related to the smoking ban. In GV, restauranteurs and bar owners can't even buy their way into re-allowing smoking.
I think any Theo group ride should at least give it a try. Just ride over and pile up the bikes on the patio.

Do they have a full liquor license? Just curious...

Yes, they do! They also have (or had) a pretty good group of professional drinkers.
This place also has quite possibly the cheapest room in town for group events. I checked earlier this year and it was around $300 I believe.

I think we may have found our location for the 2006 Minnesota Mountain Bike Summit...
Yeah, but how would the regulars handle a bunch of bikers hanging out in spandex shorts and multi-colored jerseys? :jumpy:

Well, as long as they don't expect me to dance on tables or start trying to stuff small bills down my shorts, I'm OK.
Large bills? That's another story...
Yeah, but how would the regulars handle a bunch of bikers hanging out in spandex shorts and multi-colored jerseys? :jumpy:
Simply don't wear spandex shorts and multi-colored jerseys (they're evil).

They have gobs of room inside and out. Meat raffles, fish fries, you name it. Plus, we can derby on the adjacent softball and soccer fields.

I called to explain the Theo group ride/off-road riding thing and that there are some riders looking for a post-ride watering hole. She said Geno the bartender told her that someone (soupboy?) talked to him about it. She was happy that I called. They are looking for new customers and she will do anything she can to welcome riders! A very sweet woman, by the way.
If you drive to ride Theo, you can park on the north side of the Chester Bird American Legion Post 523 lot.
Do not park in their lot if you do not plan to be a post-ride (or pre-ride if that's your thing...) paying customer!
After your ride, re-rack your bike or park it in the fenced off patio area and tip a few cold ones!

Well lookie, lookie there? I thought all you non-smokers were going to be running out the door and flooding the bars and resturants after the smoking ban went through? What happened? You better go there now! Some kids want to play baseball!!

You show up to a post-ride brew session and I'll buy you a pack of filter-less Pall Malls to suck down in the parking lot. :etard:

That is what I figured! I would like to meet up for a ride some night and hit the Bird for some cold ones. Post up or PM me sometime (I am gone fishin' next week though). Besides, I have some 29er questions that need answers!

People who on a daily basis in the summer go running their bodies into trees down rock gardens.... bitching about health issues. Maybe you could duct tape the paulmalls to your forhead instead and for extra padding on a wipeout.

Err, como se what? I'd duct tape a foil pack of Applejack to my forehead before a pack of Pallmalls. C'mon, smoking is bad for you! :etard:

This is a free event and is always a pretty good time. Maybe it would be a good time to show support of the GV Fire Department and the American Legion. Oh, and the date is Saturday, June 17th.
2006 Highlights
Fire trucks and kiddie activities (face painting and moonwalk)
Food (hotdogs, brats, roasted corn on the cob, chips, popcorn, snow cones, mini doughnuts, and pop)
Live music
3 - 5 pm: Changing Times
5 - 8 pm: DelCounts
8 pm - midnight: Doug and The Mooners (classic '50s - '90s rock)
