Does anyone have any experience with the WOOdman disc adapter for frames that are not disc compatible? Any idea on the cost?

Well I guess I'm not really gonna answer your question, but I'd say leave
a V-brake on the rear and add a disc to the fork. In general 70-80% of
your braking is done with the front.

I have bikes with cantilevers, V-brakes and disc.
I'm over 210lbs and greatly benefit from a disc in the front. Esp. at
the ski hill trails. But I don't think the rear disc is really necessary.

My frame accepts both disc and V-brakes, so I when I went to disc I
did both front and rear. In hindsight I would only disc the front and
keep the rear V-brake. It would have saved me money and I wouldn't
have that annoying squeal when out of the saddle climbing. The rear
triangle of my frame flexes enough to squeal the brake when I stand
and really put down the torque.

If you really feel you don't have enough stopping power in the rear,
have you tried the Salsa carbon brake booster? I tried this and it does
work. I found it works even better on a noodly front fork if your too
fat for the fork.

I had one I just gave away to a buddy, but he only rides sidewalks.
I could try to get it back if your interested.
