Many of you would like to come out to help us work on trails but perhaps cannot due to scheduling conflicts. Or maybe you just would rather help out in other ways. In addition to a MORC membership, there is this small way of saying "Thanks" to your trail workers. Send them a buck or two... or whatever feels right. Proceeds will go towards keeping our hungry trail workers fed with goodies like cookies and pizza.

BTW: Thanks to Ted Wiegandt for this idea. He gets the first slice!
Why does it try to add $1.50 shipping and handling? :)

seriously - why is there a $1.50 S&H fee? The pizza was on its way until I came to that fee then I canceled out.
Let me know and I'll go back in. This is a great idea and the work trail workers do is much appreciated. hopefully you can skim a little off the top for beer as well ;)

Pizzas, beers, it's all good...
I threw in 20 bones to the cause...
I'd like to do my part with MX too, but am rather clueless, so I hope not to be a hindrance when I show up for work.
Till then, Cheers!
And Thanks!

Is the $1.50 to cover the pizza delivery guy running down the singletrack with the pizzas? :D

If not sitisfied with your apres vois, let me know and I'll demand my money back. I did the money back gaurantee. Oh wait, that doesn't make sense, or does it. Keep building better trails people. Just kidding about the satisfaction gurantee.

A fundamental question about this concept....
Which trail crew gets the pizza? How does one go about petitioning to get said pizza delivered to said trail crew? etc. etc.

Sadly enough I think it need to be a MORC sponsored trail. I have not become a member yet becuase the big promise of alot of bodies on trail day has not yet proven itself. We will se what the 13th & 14th can bring us,

We'll spread out the love among all MORC crews just to avoid any unnecessary accounting or tracking. Pizza or goodies will be the responsibility of the dirt boss in charge of the crew. We'll see how the system goes then maybe each trail can have its own "Pizza Day" etc.
People are still encouraged to bring goodies to your favorite trail crew as well.. huge and kisses optional.

Absolutely not. In fact even without this donation everyone knows that there are people willing to bake up goodies without MORC funding. This is just a fun way to let people join in the action.
I think Liz alone has a 6 figure budget devoted to trail crew baked goods. ;)

I fixed the shipping problem. Paypal, in its infinite wisdom, does not allow a person to remove it with a donation button. I had to create the button in a different way to remove shipping costs.

Goodies to any trail crew should be undisputed and are well-deserved!

Gus- Giving a reason like that for not being a member is pretty lame. Maybe they haven't helped out at Memorial as much as you would want but look at what they have done for mtb in MN. I am guessing you have ridden some of the other trails that MORC has supported. (I know you have ridden Leb) If you really consider yourself a "trail steward" and an active part of the bike community/bike advocacy, then you should really open your eyes a little. MORC has done so much for biking in MN and we are fortunate to have such a great organization in our area. I am sure you will get your help in the near future. It is unfortunate that your ignorance and politics have haulted you from supporting such a group. I apologize if I come off a little strong but its just my two cents.;) -Porter

Porter,
Not that I need to justify myself at this point. But here is my reasoning. On several occasions I have been told that MORC can bring us bodies. Never once have I recieved what was promised. The best responce of actualy MORC members was Shad and JJ last year one day. For that I thank them. However, on three other occasions I have got one person that did not want to doa thing I had planed out and aproved. Infact I was told that I no clue what I was doing and this particalr trail would never last. Well he was wrong. I've even been cused out by a trail steward of a metro area trail.
So, on that note my eyes are open pal. Hopefully Scott and I can get something going. If not we may need to call it metro area offroad cyclist.

I can understand gus's arguement, obviously due to the population numbers morc has more members in the metro, therefore sometimes it seems that it is all metro all the time (and the metro doesn't hold much trail potential, comparitively) not that I am using this as justification for not joining, I just find procrastination to be cheap.

MORC was a metro only organization. It was where we were founded, it was where our trails were, it was where our members were.
We have grown in strength that we can now live up to our state-wide moniker. With the Grand Rapids chapter coming on line last month, we have officially expanded beyond the metro. BLAST is lined up to join as a chapter (Monticello, Elk River, Milaca). Red Wing is considering. Marshall is considering. Brainered is considering.
It sounds like Chris has gotten a bum rap in the past. He's not the only one. Kurt in Duluth ran into some issues as well. On the big picture scale, it was not anything personal, it just wasn't the right time.
The time is right.

Sorry for derailing the thread... I was just hungry when I read about pizza and was wondering how I could get MORC delivered Knuto's Pizza....
To keep it derailed.... Gus, I sorta agree with Porter on this one. If you ride at practically any trail in the metro-area a handful of times the membership fee is cheap support for the group that got those trails put in. Regardless of the fact that a half-dozen metro area riders have helped out at Memorial in the past 3 years. Not bagging on you, just stating my opinion.
Oh... and Porter... hopefully you know something I don't with your "I'm sure you'll get your help in the near future" comment. I'm not holding my breath.

Chris,
My riding buddy & I are trying to hit one of the trails listed on the MORC site per week over the course of the summer and we have Memorial on the list. We'll try to schedule that ride the same day you're doing trail work and pitch in what we can (or at least I will, shouldn't speak for him). It'll probably be in June.
But only if you join. Just kidding, but it would be kinda cool to have pizza afterwards : )
I grew up in a farm town in the western part of the state where there aren't any trails (I mean zero). I can understand the metro vs. outstate friction. Speaking generally (not about MORC), many Twin Citians don't know that outstate exists. I've only been a MORC member for about a year but from my vantage point it looks like they're really trying to branch out with the Cuyuna project and whatnot.

in other terms how many times have any of the red wing crew (myself included) helped on trailwork up in the cities, not trying to start anything just trying to slip the shoe on the other foot.

Shhh!!! You hoser Ben... quit making good arguments...
Actually, I'm not at all surprised or disappointed in the least that more people don't come down to help on Memorial. It's a long ways to drive for most people (it's an easy commute... but still about 45 minutes to an hour minimum for most). I want to see more people just riding the trails, that's more important to me.
Oh... I did go up and help put in the sweet swamp bridge thing at Salem last year. So that's once (not good, but it's something).
I repeat... I wasn't trying to start anything... just saw pizza when I was about to head up to the bluff for some trail work before supper.... mmmm pizza

Just a reminder to everyone that we have a small fund that we use to help with the costs of trailworker appreciation events and give-aways.
This time of year we will start to hold trailworker appreciation events for the various trails. This is a great way to donate toward their efforts, especially if you can't make trailworker but want to contribute in some special way.
If you want to sponsor a trails event, feel free to PM me and we can work out the details.

Worked for me too!! Hope you guys (and gals) enjoy the pizza and stuff as much as I've enjoyed riding Leb this spring/summer/fall. Thanks for making Leb a great trail to ride on!!
