Race classes

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the various MTB classes? I'm thinking of heading down from Ontario to the Duluth races but I haven't got a clue what the difference is between Citizen and Sport. I've only ever done one race before, so I suspect I should stick with Citizen, right?

Yes, if you've never raced before you really need to do your first race in beginner or citizen, whichever class is lowest.

The classes aren't a determinant of how experienced you are at mountain biking but how experienced you are at mountain bike racing. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the difference. :)

That's for sure. I've been riding for years, and although I think I'm an expert rider, I get schooled in even the lowest of catagories :)
