View Full Version : Spring Cup Volunteers Needed 5/20
Hello all!
Erik's Sping Cup race is coming up on Saturday May 20th at Salem Hills Park in Inver Grove Heights. This event is sponsored by Erik's Bike Shop and ran by volunteers from MORC. It is one of our greatest income sources each year as Erik's hands all the proceeds to MORC to go back into the trails.
It's a big event and in order to pull it off we need YOU!!
Here is a rough outline of volunteer opportunities. Feel free to respond and request a specific duty or if you'd just like to show up and be put to work, that'd be great as well.
Thanks!

Still some opportunities for help-
If you have a little time in the afternoon, we could use some help from around 2:30 - 4:30 to help clean up and pack stuff away.
Parking help needed also, if you like telling people where to go. ;)
Still could use another person or so very early in the morning to assist with course marking and set-up. About 6:30 AM. You could leave by 8:30 . . .
Thanks to everyone that has volunteered so far. We're looking pretty good! :)

I can be there at 6:30 am to help mark course Troy. I am thinking of racing SS but not sure yet, so I may be patrolling during the race instead, if they need me. If not, I could help out with something else. Just let me know!
Thank you Porter! That'd be great.

Troy,
My wife will also help with the registration packets on Wed. It was a conditional deal - if I was leaving to help, she was coming too! Looking forward to it - wish I could be there Sat.

Oh great, never mind, I won't be there to help. Need to avoid the Fruita crew at all costs. -Joking
Anyway, for us volunteers, where would you like us to park? Directions?

Ryan,
Volunteer parking will be in the normal trailhead parking lot.
The Entrance road to the lot will be closed and parking will be at the direction of the volunteers working that, tell them that you are a volunteer and they should let you through to park up top.
James
Thanks everyone for helping out. We really appreciate it!
I will try to send PM reminders to people but here is the basic info for Saturday.
Those coming for all day help or morning setup and registration. Come early if you are willing. We will begin setting up at 6:30 AM.
Volunteer Parking: Green star on the map. As James said, all volunteers should try to park at the main lot of Salem Hills Park, accessed from 55th. Registration setup will be through the ball fields to the east at Salem Hills Elem. School.

so do any volunteers (who then aren't riding/racing that day) want to ride after it's all over? (or will the trail be open for that?) Since I'm driving down there I figure I may as well bring my bike and maybe go for a ride since I'll be there if I can!

I'll be bringing my bike. And assuming that the gut bug I've managed to pick up this week doesn't lay me any lower, I'll be itching for a spin.

Course marshals can also use bikes to get to the locations that we put them.
Plus course will be open for riding when the race is over until 10:00pm
Cannondale will have there demo-semi out for riding on the trail after the race also I think.
Demo rides during the race will only be allowed on asphalt.
