I'll tentatively plan on attending this. I'll bring the bike and a camera. When I chicken out on the hucks I'll snap some shots.

Here are the requirements.....
Images shot on film or digitally will be accepted. All film prints and transparencies must be drum scanned at high resolution and delivered digitally. No prints will be accepted.
On line submission format: jpg
Minimum picture size : 8 mega pixels
Maximum file size : 5 mega byte
All digital images must be shot with a minimum 8 mega pixel camera
All images must be available for re-submitting in their original size. All finalists will be requiored to re-submit images in Tiff at 300dpi
Sucks to be a Nikon guy...Most of Nikon DSLR's are 6.1mp. I would have thought that redbull would have taken that into consideration.

8.1mp's.... So that rules out all the D50 and D70 users...
link fixed...
I'm getting the low down on cams, I don't know much about them. So I have sent off an e-mail to the right people to find out what is up.
Thanks

Rip the meta information out of your image files, upsize the size of the photo in photoshop and submit it ;).
That kinda sucks for anyone who doesn't have an 8 meg camera. I've seen blow-ups from 6 meg and 8 meg cameras and I can't tell ya the difference. I would imagine they are trying to cut back on anyone who is shooting with a point and shoot camera primarily to speed up their workflow.

Any good huck spots in mind that have nice backdrops?
Couple urban spots that will work great...lake for the back drop on the whole mtn!!! Trials guys are in an awesome river bed for most of their stuff...park is kind of lame for back drops, but they can throw down pretttttty damn big at the park!
Photogs can enter 3 photos in each cat. so that equals 30 photos you can enter!!!!
If you have any camera requirement issues let me know...I worked a sweet deal with Red Bull...I'll have a few camera kits and my disposal!

Hello,
I was hoping that someone might be able to offer suggestions as to locations to freeride around the twincitities. My brother is coming into town and was recently at the freeride park in ocala florida. It is my understanding that Minnesota doesn't have anything quite like that place, but any suggestions would be great.

Scott, if you have sh^tmano cleats, you take a run down on the Banshee. Or I could put the flats on for you, that way you can use any shoe.

I'm bringing my own gear. I tried to rent a 10-22 from West Photo weeks ago but the one they have had already been booked. So I'll be shooting with my 70-200 and my 17-35. All my compact flash cards, my flash, prolly my off camera flash cord, a polarizing filter, and beer.
Buck said that the kits have tripods so I'm sure there will be plenty of tripods around so I don't plan on brining anything like that along.
errr,
guys with gear I recommend that you bring it. It'd be the best bet that you get gear. I don't actually know till Thursday how many tripods come with the kits. I do know that I have 10 D200 bodies w/ 5 wide and 5 telephoto lenses, 10 laptops, then after that the list I got was a little incomplete...
Glad to see so much interest!!! I'll be up mid day on Friday I have stuff here in town I have to wrap up before I can bail. Like picking up the two 15 passenger vans we'll have!!! werd $$$? You'll know what camp spots are ours, I'll have the Red Bull tent set up in that area!
Thanks!

Hope to see ya all out there, gonna definitly be a one of a kind event!

Buck, do you have a guesstimit of how many are showing up? I'm not looking for an exact number, just a rough idea. I can't wait. We should be up by no later than 8:30pm. Is our area for tenting by some trees or are we out in the open? Thanks for the info. and I'll see you up on the big lake.
P.S. Do you need help with anything? I can bring things up for you if you need me to help. You know how to get ahold of me if you need my services.;)

No idea on numbers. sounds like alot though. It'll be in the open for the most part, no brush or anything, KOA style. High canopy, lol.
Thanks for the offer right now I have everything on lock down. I have an events guy working for me for the weekend.

Rain won't affect street riding too much but the downhill and skatepark may be sketchy. Either way, Duluth is on a hill so there are probably more drops and gaps in downtown Duluth than Spirit Mountain anyway.
The trails on Spirit shed water well, My guess it we'll be able to ride them even wtih some rain on Friday! The joy of super rocky trails is they are rideable even when wet!
Yes there are also some good hits in town!
Oh my then there is the sk8 park...
What a weekend this shall prove to be!!!!
Thanks

So what all do we need to do to reserve a campsite? Is it just first come, first serve? Is there anything I need to do or register before friday, or just show up?
Looks like it's going to be an awesome time!

There will be a treadmill and excersize bike that will be hooked up to a generator that we will be using to charge batteries and run laptops.

Yeah that was what I was thinking. I think Saturday night there is the viewing party at Pizza Luce so I would think a lot of people would eat there. I figure just to grab some granola bars for snacking and maybe bring up my stove for making up some breakfast for anyone that is interested.

Werd guys,
Ben I've got one site with power. so mark your stuff and that is where I'll be saving spots for photogs to camp so they are close to the power outlets.
Food, Saturday dinner is on me at the after party.'

Couldn't ask for better day! light clouds, cool, with riders arriving at 2pm and hitting Downtown for a quick ride, the numbers quickly grew to 30-35 riders, followed by a showing of the best new videos with the guys cheering on their favorite riders while drinking their brew of choice, illuminated by the three campfires that were going the good times rolled till late night!!!
Hope to see more tomorrow, as the real mayhem begins at 9:00 am and ends around 11:00pm at Pizza Luce for the photo viewing!

Twas an excellent weekend and I think everyone had a great time. I'm gonna start a seperate thread for anyone who wants to post up pictures from the event.
What up guys?
Just wanted to thank all the photogs and athletes that came out and made it a great weekend!!! Thanks for cleaning up the campsites before ya all bailed, and sorry I didn't make it out to see ya off.
Also want to say that I think this event definitly set the bench mark for this kind of event! I haven't ever seen anything like it(We were the first!), there was an incredible amount of progression going on from the athletes! So kudos to you guys!(Dustin, Brad, and trials Pete seem to stick out in my mind) It was fun watching you guys pin stuff!!!! I know for a fact that Scott has atleast one photo that would kill it in the Red Bull Illume contest so you better submit that log ride photo...blew my mind!!!! And the other photos being shown at Pizza Luce during the photo showing were all top notch, I think MN will have atleast one photog on their way to the grand opening of the tour!(So enter that **** so I can go with!!!)
Big thanks also goes out to Jerry Olson for being a great photog instructor for the weekend and being so excited to shoot the best sport there is! Thanks Jerry!!!!
Also thanks to our major sponsor(s) Red Bull Energy Drink, Maxxis Tires, Utopia Optics, Xtreme Bikes, Transition Bikes, Pioneer Cycle, and Buck House Productions!
Anyway lets see some pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again for the awesome weekend!!!

Hello ya'll,
I just registered for this forum so this is my first post! I was at the Red Bull event and also wanted to thank Red Bull, Adam Buck and everyone else who helped make it possible. I had a ton of fun and am glad we were invited so thanks.
If you can't tell by my username or aviator, I was the tall guy riding on one of those one-wheeled bikes we like to call a unicycle. I've never really rode or hung out with bikers before so I didn't know what to expect. But everyone made us feel welcome and I met a lot of cool people over the weekend so thanks. I hope to see some of you again in the near future.
I have a couple good photos I'll post when I get them up.
