The Opus crit is on for tomorrow.
Opus is On!
The Minnetonka Police Department, the City of Minnetonka and Loon State Cyclists have come to an agreement to let us continue our Opus Race Series. I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we've worked to save the series. A special thanks to Mike Delaney for his diligent work with officials from the Police Department and the City of Minnetonka. To ensure the safety of cyclists, meet the needs of car traffic, and accommodate the new USA Cycling Field Limit rules, we are implementing some changes. We feel these changes will give us the opportunity to improve relations with the public, ensure riders safety, and start and finish the races in a timely manner. We are hiring an off-duty police officer to regulate traffic and ensure safety. Unfortunately, one of the changes has been to eliminate the open race, which we are hoping to offset by making the races longer. As the series progresses and we gain more d aylight, we may be able to add the open race back into the schedule. To off-set the addition of the police and loss of races the race fee is now $12 except for juniors it will be $5. All riders whose race was cancelled last week (April 18th) can either apply the amount owed them to future races or get a refund. See details of the changes below:

-We are hiring an off-duty police officer to regulate traffic at the corner of Yellow Circle Drive (the racecourse), Red Circle Drive and Bren Road.
- The only riders allowed on the course during the races are the racers itself. All riders warming up or cooling down should do so on Red Circle Drive or other appropriate roads. Riders must ride no greater than two abreast, follow traffic signs and go the proper direction. Do NOT GO the WRONG WAY on a ONE WAY! Be courteous to all car drivers at all times. If there are any unruly motorists, report them to the on site police officer.
- All races will be staged in the Parking Lot a t the corner of Yellow Circle Drive and Red Circle Drive. There will be a neutral rollup to the start/finish line, where the race will be started.
- Registration opens at 5:00PM at Einstein Bagel Parking lot at 11000 Red Circle Drive. Registration will close 5 minutes prior to race start. Race fees are now $12 per race and $5 per race for juniors.
- Due to insurance purposes, USA Cycling has recently passed new field limit rules. Any race with a Category 5 rider present can not exceed 75 riders. A cat 5 race cannot exceed 50 riders and no fields can exceed 100 riders. To ensure we are meeting these rules we have had to make the following changes to our schedule. Note: the officials may change the amount of laps in order to keep to our start and finish schedule.

5:45-6:10 Category 5 Men Points Race (12 laps, sprints every 3)
6:15-6:40 Category 4 Men (12 laps, sprints every 3)
6:45-7:10 Women Open (12 laps, sprints every 3)
7:15-8:10 Category 1-2-3 Men ( 27 laps, sprints every 3)

- After your race is over, please get off the racecourse as quick as possible.
- Remember to bring your license, your helmet, your shoes, and a smile :) The Race is On!
