View Full Version : An offer to all MORC'ers

I had an idea that I thought might help people on our rides in the TC area. Here goes...
I want to offer any MORC'er who is riding the Smith Ave. Bridge/Ohio St. routes to feel free to stop in to 500 Ohio St. (my home) if they ever need a tube/air to make it home, need to make a call for pickup, need a quick tool (I have a nice selection of Park Tools), a fill of your water bottle or a banana to fend off a pending bonk. I will put a MORC sticker on my mailbox so you know.
I am lucky to live right on a heavily used route and thought I might offer my assistance to those who may need it. If others pitch in, we could create a network of bikers helping bikers!
Just a thought...

Naw, Taylor is cool. He raced last year. In fact my buddy knows him real well. He a family guy and all.
Taylor, I hear about you all the time from Borstad. I trust ya.
I may ask for assistance soon on hill finding. I 'll need to do many hill laps this summer before my August century ordeal..

LOL! I will tell you it took much consideration to throw that out considering all the roughians that make up MORC. It was just something I thought might save someone's ass. Oh, did I mention tubes were 10 bucks a pop?
Thanks for vouching for my character Heath...I was never really able to talk to you last year cuz you were kicking my ass! I have just the hill loop for ya...up and down Ohio and/or Smith Ave. It makes for some nice interval training.

If we wear a MORC jersey can we get 2 bananas?
And thanks for the offer. The MN bike scene makes me want to stay.

It would be fun to have a network of places to get assistance. As long as nobody invites me in to take "pictures". DOH!
Great offer Taylor! Thanks for putting that out there. You live in a nice area. I lived near Cherokee for a few years and really enjoyed it.
Heath, and others in the area--
The following is what I think is THE best hill interval in the area bar-none! Even includes off road riding:
Starting at Smith and Cherokee, head SW on the road/trails along the bluffs through Cherokee park. Stay close to the bluff edge. Near where Annapolis meets Cherokee there will be a gravel path continuing along the bluff. This will take you to the top of the Brickyards and to the beginning of your descent. 4 distinct sections of switchbacking technical trail/doubletrack will get you to the bottom and onto a trail that will dump you out on Water street. Take Water over to Plato then to Ohio and begin your climb back to Smith.
For an extremely technical, dirt hill climb (Lilydale Lungbuster) just reverse your route.
Haven't did this yet this year but plan to soon.

Any chance you could incorperate a small cooler at the base of your mailbox that would always be stocked with ice cold beer?

Wow, I live at Smith and Dodd. I love this area! There are so many sweet road rides all right out my door, every direction is down. We should hook up for a ride, as long as you're not Dahmer like!

What does it say about our society when someone makes a super nice gesture and people respond by asking if he's a serial killer?:eyeroll:

yeah but calling your women only ride a "skillz session" sounds somewhat "playa" I see shad doing his best ladies man impression saying "all you fine lookin' ladies come on out and I will be happy to demonstrate my riding skillz, yeaaa dat was niice"

Right on! Definately not Dahmer like...more Bluto Blutarksy, with bike tools.
I agree, a great area to get on a variety of routes. A ride sounds great...it would be interesting to hear what routes you take. I am always looking for new routes! I also bike to BC for some MTB'in.

What you expect from a bunch of heathen mutha MORC'ers?
I guess it is odd but seriously, the biking community is pretty cool and this is just one way to build community and help out my fellow gear heads. I have no problem offering help to all of you. It just makes sense...to me.
Plus, if a problem does arise, I will kill you and bury you in my neighbor's yard...:etard:

How about he just insulates the mailbox and puts the beer in there! Where was that thread on the free insulation again? :crazy2:
Cool for ya to offer the service and refill station!

It would be better if you ground them up and made burgers to feed other riders.

Or chili.
And if you then kill the riders that just ate the ground-rider chili and add them to the next batch, it really adds to the depth of flavor.

Good thing it is lunch time, cause all this talk of food made me hungry. Any burgers or chili yet Mo-Tay?

None yet...none have been brave enought to come by. However, the upside to all of this is that you get a 2 fer 1...burger/chili AND a new bike! Hmmm...the serial killer thing is looking more and more appealing.

Just a joke.
Taylor, that rocks -- your offer is very generous; being a rook local rider, I'm taking notes... Thanks for the pit-stop offer!

Your welcome. Being that I work in the non-profit world providing services to people with disabilities, helping people and building community is just something that comes easily. I am just taking that mindset into the biking community.
