Preface:

Did a few searches on milage, got mixed results. A goal of mine this year is to keep better track of my milage. Road miles are fine, as I have a computer. But dirt miles are harder, as I don't run a computer on my mtn bikes.

I'd like this thread to be a reference for people, so they can calculate their ride milage, even if they didn't have a bike computer.

To do that, we need a milage for each section of trail at lebanon hills, then they can add them together to get a total.

I'll post a second thread with the list of sections, and then just continually update that one post. Feel free to offer up numbers for the distances you already know (for sure), or measure here in the next few days. If there are differences, I'll average them. We can also update the "official post" to in the future to reflect changes due to pending trail construction, reroutes, etc.

(It'd be cool if a thread like this could be mirrored for each trail)

Use the list below to calculate the milage of your ride (current as of 7/5/06):

Baaah on milage. I got rid of my speedometer early 04. My data .xls says I lost it at Leb 05/12/04, anyone find it?

My spreadsheet only has edjamacated guesses on speed and mileage. I started tracking actual time on trail and perceived effort as facts ever since my puter fell off my bike.

Damn speedometer, I only looked at it when I was tired anyway. No use. If the actual numbers are posted (which would be interesting) it'll mean I can no longer fib myself about my Leb speeds.

Exactly, that's why we need the milage documented, so we don't need to use stupid computers. I never look at it until afterwards either. I lost mine at Theo 2 years ago..... I mainly want to try to keep track to see how not-hardcore I am. I believe I ride alot, but I bet the overall milage is a lot less than I think!

I'll try to get numbers next time I go out, but figured someone else proally will before I get to it.

Perhaps I'll go out an hour or so early Tuesday with my girlfriend's forerunner and see if I can get a good GPS course before the trees develop leaves. I keep meaning to do that and forgetting to do so.

Mileage will change at Lebanon. We will be shutting down a lot of the intermediate trail as well as the X loop!

Naw not really. I will be out there today flagging a re-route for the x-c ski area, add some distance to the intermediate bypass trail as well as change the approach to the rock garden in the x loop. Heading out there around 10 today. All are welcome to join me. I will be starting on the bypass for the x-c ski trail, moving to the rock garden and then to the bypass section.

Yeah right, haha, nice one.....

But that's the beauty of the edit button...the list can be kept up-to-date as trail is rerouted, and changed.

Finally got out to Leb with a bike computer and with all the new sections of trail done. Updated post #2 of this thread with the milage I found. Here's a couple loops for quick reference:

The popular, In-X-XX-Out route, is ~ 7.6 miles.

The traditional, In-X-XX-X-Out route, is now ~ 8.4 miles.

The X-XX Loop combination is ~ 2.5 miles.

An "outer" loop is now ~ 5.1 miles (No X-XX).

Thanks Pete. I've started to alternate Full Lap v1.0 and Full Lap v1.1.

Heck, I've been tempted to even skip the X/XX - :embarass: - and had fun riding the "outer" loop.

That xx loop lost allot of luster in my book after my large chainring lost allot of teeth. Still doing it though just for the battle wounds and braggin rights when hucking over the table top.

I do that alot too, usually as a second lap. That's about 5.1 miles and usually averages above 10.5 mph at a brisk, but comfortable pace.

Oops. You are not going to like the new XX entrance. Just as Theo was built by rigid single-speed riders, Leb was built by people that have bash plates. Sorry ;)

Actually, the more teeth you lose, the better it gets. Once you have lost enough that you stop worrying about it, you can have some more fun and it opens up all new lines through the rocks.

I used to have no problems riding the xx/xxx until I got new cranks and chainrings costing me more then the frame did. I was riding an old giant carbon frame out there and will continue to use the beater bike there until I get more comfortable losing teeth to a good for nohting stubborn rock garden.

Has anyone found my left top incisor? It should be stuck in the log right after the tabletop.

Seriously? Isn't that the second tooth you've lost at Leb?

Nope. Just one. That's why I have such an engaging smile.;) That and I have a maxillofacial surgeon as a friend.:)

I remember back in the fall of '03 I was at Leb for the first or second time, on a week night. Everyone seemed to know this guy, which is why I thought it might be you. Anyhoo, this older gentleman comes out bleeding profusely. He'd biffed somewhere and knocked out a front tooth. Thought it might have been you. Sorry for the confusion.

Time flies when you're having fun. I don't think it was that long ago, though. It was a Sunday evening. I ho-hummed the log ride and BANG, down I went. It happens fast, folks!! I called my buddy and drove right to his office. Medical office buildings are REALLY empty on the weekend.

Does anyone know how long the Beginner loop is? I took my kid on his first off-road adventure yesterday and am trying to figure out how far we went. We did the Beginner three times and the whole Intermediate. The kid is good, damn good. Cleared all obstacles attempted, only tumbled once. On an unfamiliar bike, no less. We have a convert and future MORCer

.78 miles for the beginner loop.
Congratulations. The important thing is that your kid enjoyed it.

Thanks for the info.

Grinned ear to ear almost the whole time. AND thanked me about a dozen times yesterday.
