Why even bother with a poll, we all know that Leb is the best. You are just setting yourself up for failure.

Crap, I forgot to ennumerate the poll so we can see who voted for Lebanon and put them on "the list."

Neither... Everyone knows that Terrace owns all!
Hmm, I think this poll needs a thrid option "neither".
Theo lacks technical features (as of now), and any wide-open-put-the-hammer-down-and-haul-a$$ sections.
Leb is plagued by log crossings, so many log crossings, ackk!! Here and there is cool, but every 2 bike lengths just gets annoying.
I'm just a hater.
Both trails rock the house.:cheesy:

You just have no skillz.....:p
I like some of the log sections at Leb. Like the one not too far after you get into the X-Loop. The first one has a big rock on the back, with one immediately after that. Then you do a little climb and left turn, hop and downside the next log ride into the quick little down hill. The last long log pile, just treat that sucker like a small table top. That is one of my favorite Leb sections.
Hey John, since you will be reading this....:), do you need some work on the table in the XX-Loop, I have been meaning to want to come out there and fix that and make it a bit smoother.
Your days are numbered...

First off I love to ride Leb, totally appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating it and keeping it maintained but yeah the log crossings are just over the top for me. It's the one thing that bugs me about the trail. Log crossings are like speed bumps. Problem is there are a ton of speed bumps where ya don't really need em. It's like a painting, you just want to keep addings things to make it better but in the end you find out them sometimes more is not always better.
I can't speak to Theo has I have never even ridden it. This East side guy needs a tour guide this summer me thinks!

Shhh!!!! Leb gets angry when people complain about the log crossings. It has even been known to be vindictive and add more just out of spite.

I know you have skills. Both riding and being cool skills.......:)

Don't get me started on Hillside!! Worst flow ever! You climb, climb, climb, barf up a lung at the top, think you are going to get rewarded with a nice swoopy down hill...NOT...instead - hair pin turn, fist full of brake, all momentum lost, start climbing again from a dead stop. So frustrating, can't build any rythmn or flow. They should have stretched it out a little and built 4 or 5 miles of trail instead of twisting it into the 7 or whatever it is. But, hey, it is one of the best trails to ride to get in shape, and get your but kicked! If you like climbing, and don't care about getting any DH flow out of it, hillside rocks.
Like I said, I'm just a hater.
(Though there may be some true feeling behind my opinions in this thread, I hope people realize I'm also kidding around a little. I really like all our local trails, and am very greatful we have them.....expect for the 'bottoms, don't get me started on that freeway..... ...i kid, i kid!)

Hillside, or Theo, or Leb - it's all good.
I think of Hillside as kind of like Theo on steroids -- same sort of through the woods feel but about 10x the climbing and a lot longer, but not as tight (as in closely-spaced trees/handlebar grabbers). Haven't been to Leb in a long time but this is the summer I hit up all the MORC trails within 50 miles of the metro, and I'm sure Leb will be a repeat offender.
The main thing is that it is so GREAT!! to have so many good riding options -- thanks to MORC for everything!

I don't know why we're so arrogant that we only include these two trails, but here is my take on it.
Lebanon Hills has been MORCs flagship trail from as long as I can remember. It has been the springboard that got a lot of our other efforts going. Many (but not all) other projects have Lebanon to thank, as does MORC as a whole. That is something no other trail will ever have.
As for effort and people, they are both equal. Theo had much more activity last year, but Lebanon has a long history and head start.
Leb only has 80 acres (currently) to work with, so expansion and improvement won't expand much beyond where it is today. Because of this I would expect many other trails to become more popular. Judging by traffic alone I would say that its no contest still on a popularity scale.
I suspect Leb will not always win or be the most popular. I actually look forward to the day when riders are attracted more to other trails... thats a good thing for more reasons than are worth typing out here.
If I throw out the whole local trail and that I've worked at Leb and vote strictly on my enjoyment it would still be Leb hands down... at least right now. I think Theo has a lot of potential. I don't yet think that Theo is even second best as far as meto trails go... and I'm not convinced that Leb is necessarily #1 either. I also think a project like Murphy has the potential to make both trails look average. (I hope!)
Overall I don't appreciate this type of comparison. There are a lot of people who have put in a lot of effort on all our trails and to pick one or two and try put them above the rest I think does more harm than good.. even if its just in fun. I think we need to be careful with this type of thing going forward, especially as we have a division between a MOCA and MORC local chapter. Fun can turn into hurt feelings which can divide us... to be honest I'm already annoyed by the constant comparisons (even joking) between these trails, which frankly shouldn't even be listed together alone.
I don't know why we're so arrogant that we only include these two trails......
It's all Chris D's fault. Leave it to him to start a flame-fest and then leave and go riding..... punk.

Actually yes, we do need help. The table isn't as fun as it used to be... it really could use some shaping. We are also thinking about building the double table jump after the existing one and could use some help on that one too.

Somebody re-worded my poll!
I didn't do it, you will have to blame John....:)
I took this thread as being all in all fun. I honestly don't think anyone feels bad about what is being said here or takes it very seriously. All MORC trails, and some non-MORC trails are great trails. I think most people do believe Leb is probably the best trail, it has been around awhile and has all what is needed. A beginner loop, Intermediate loop, X-Loop, and XX-Loop. It's also got a good distance to it.
Theo is a great trail and of course we are excited to have such a place right in the city that many can ride to. It will get more developed over time and become a really great trail too.
All trails have their goods and their bads. I like Hillside, but it's a bit sandy and they took out the cool tree the was crossing the trail that most riders could not make it over......see avatar....so I don't like Hillside anymore....:D

I have to agree with JohnL on this one. Both trails are great, they each have their own personalities. I voted for Murphy and Cuyuna as the greatest trails!!! Ya gotta see both areas and then let your imagination run wild.
When I had Adam up at Cuyuna he was so excited he had a seizure. (maybe that is just the way you act when you have had 10 red bulls before breakfast) So I am excited about all the activity that is goin on for trails. I am predicting that within3 years we will be scoring an A on the IMBA polls.

Okay, now the question has been re-worded and it's even worse. Which trail is superior? I thought the Superior Trail was only for hiking? :D

try www.mvta.com (http://www.mvta.com), then click on mall of america and it will give you the routes that include that stop, there are a few depending on your time of day that will get you close to Leb (blackhawk park and ride on the 440 looks close and palimino park and ride on others isn't too far away either).

.....Wirth is cool too. No offense but ya'll need someone to help that knows how to make jumps. I know you guys want to keep it small but having such short jumps for that speed is more dangerous then having a jump that's 10' long. They are basically speed bumps. A rookie, or an expert can way over-shoot those things. How about Andrew Quinn, if I can volunteer someone. He knows jumps. Thanks for your consideration in advance. It would be great if it were a simple matter of only knowing how to build jumps. There's a bigger issue of the day only having 24 hours in it and limited resources, too. :) So, yes, as Bill says, come on out and help volunteer! We need all the help we can get!
