This is our first (regular) trailwork of the year and we have a lot of exciting things to accomplish this season.

I believe this time around we'll be doing some preliminary work on a new rock garden extension to try map things out before the brush starts growing up. There is some minor trail maintenance to do as well. Hope to see everyone there!

Do I have to pay member fees to help out or can I just stop by and grab a shovel?

Ignore the wise guys here. You absolutely do not have to be a member to volunteer. We need all the help we can get for trail work! :)

Now, it is a good idea to be a member if you're dedicated enough to help out with trail work then why not also be a member?

We normally head back when it starts to get dark out... then its your option to stick around and BS over some bee... er.. beverages (and sometimes goodies) or get back home to refresh for another day on the job.

We have people leave early as well - there is no shame in showing up and having to leave for whatever reason.

I have fridays off. I could work or ride. If John/Bob/Ted have work we can do without them I'd be happy to meet up with you and do it. Baring that, I'd be happy to meet up with you and ride on friday if you like. Basically my goal is 10 laps per week this year (get my sorry rear in shape!)

Tony,

I have to get into shape as well, right now I plan on hitting Leb if it isn't wet or raining on Friday probably around noonish, I ride slow uphill, fast down. Trail work optional if I have someone directing me cause I haven't done much in the past. So if you want to meet up Friday at 12:30 in the lot I be driving a black Chrysler Cirrus and riding a bright red Cannondale Prophet. See you there!

Dakota will only allow us to work at Leb on Tuesdays or other pre-arranged days... and of course a MORC Dirt Boss must be present.

We do have a trail project in the works and may need extra days, I'll see about my Friday availability....

Danimal
04-12-2006, 07:59 PM
Well then... I guess I be riding instead :D Tony, still up for meeting at 12:30 Friday afternoon? Gabe & anyone else who is off on Friday your welcome to join us

Unless something comes up, I plan on being there on Tues.

My truck is not hard to miss. Red Colorado, the only one with a CB antenna on top and a turtle sticker with Hawaii in it on the back.

Should we bring tools? If so what. (other than maybe adult beverages)

Beer for afterwards if favored among the local wildlife.

No tools necessary, we'll provide all that. Just bring gloves and some bug spray (we'll have extra in case someone forgets). Water is good to have as well.

She will also be bringing a nice single friend (girl) that is getting into mountain biking and has heard about all the great single guys you can meet out on the trails.

Not to make it a dating scene mind you... there is work to be done! :D

Paraphrasing: "If Liz's cooking isn't enough of a carrot in front of your face (and if not, get your taste buds checked) maybe the hope of a date will be. Come do trail work! Pick up logs, rocks, and if you're lucky, a date!"

Sorry John, I know you and Liz mean well and all, just sounded really funny.

I'm almost certain to get there late tomorrow. Too many meetings where people like to hear themselves talk. I'll walk backwards up Dream to meet the group.

My brush hook is already loaded in the van, waiting to destroy some tropical rainforest.

For those that arrive early, you can do as Bob is saying.. or you can walk up the hiking trail as well if you know your way. The area we will be working in is where the X loop and intermediate bypass come together and the Dream trail starts.

I hope we have a good showing tonight - we're working on clearing new trail so that Tim and Dale can get in and build with the machines... so the sooner we finish the sooner they can get going. There will be a very small section of hand built trail, and we need to harvest some rocks in an area that is full of them right around the trail.

See ya in the lot around 6pm!

In an effort to boost pint glass sales, people will only be allowed to drink post trail work and ride beer from official MORC pint glasses. Now I just need to come up with the power to enforce this.

Nobody needs tools tonight, but gloves are going to come in handy... we'll be tossing logs and brush off the new trail, doing some trimming etc. Its a great new trail - I just got back from brush cutting most of it.

Well... we had an EXCELLENT turnout tonight! Thanks everyone for coming!

Unfortunately we got rained out. We got off the trail just in time to have cookies & refreshments - then it started to really come down. First time we've ever gotten rained out.

Thanks everyone for all the hard work! We actually got a section cleared and ready for machine work. We didn't get the entire trail cleared, but its longer than I thought and we should be able to clear the rest next week.

I was overwhelmed by how many turned out. I hope that everyone will want to come back and help us finish up the new trail..

Sorry for not eating all the cookies Liz. Had it not been for the rain, I'm sure we would have finished them off. I'll do better next time, rain or shine!! Will you be air-mailing them in from CO or are we actually going to have to fend for ourselves in the future?

Yeh, I might be a little busy learning to fly a new airplane, but I won't be gone forever. I guess I don't mind having a few cookies left to take with on my ungodly upcoming road trip. Whah!
