I was biking HWY 33 today in Cloquet and saw a XC-ski trail at Pine vally Recreation area. The trails seemed nice for a ride once they dried out (i just walked them for a bit. And I was curious if anyone knows if these can (legally) be ridden? Or has anyone rode them b-4?

The guy you need to talk to is Kurt Lange the IMBA dude that lives up that way or get a hold of someone from COGGS the local advocacy group up there... www.coggs.com ....Kurt is on here sometimes, surprised he hasn't said anything, but my guess is that when they are dry you should be golden to ride them.

I just got off the phone with the folks at Cloquet Parks and Recreation. It is okay to ride at Pine Valley, but they asked that riders be careful, as it is a shared use trail with hikers, and evidently they get significant hiking use on nice days.

Ride safe,

Man, thanks for all the information this is such great news, I'll tell you all about it after I try it out. I brought my kid there the other day, and she loved it too.

I've ridden Pine Valley plenty of times. It's great two-track. Seeing the hikers hasn't been too much of a problem, the trail is wide, and visibility is good. Have fun!

Hey there Andrew,
I ski those trails a bunch in the winter. They are pretty darn hilly, like in your face hilly so be ready for some little ring action. They are pretty wide and flat though so if you are looking for begginner riding it will be easy that way. The posted Jay Cooke trails for MTB riding would be more fun though.
