Hello:

I am still pretty new here, and to MTB in general, so please bear with me if this is a stupid question.

I REALLY appreciate all of the bumps/postings for different races and events. That being said, I know I will probably not be physically/technically ready to run any races or events this year. However, I am interested in volunteering/helping out in some events this year to get a feel for how they run and whatnot.

Does anyone know how I can go about finding these opportunities, or have any suggestions for events that would be fun to be involved in? Any ideas/thoughts appreciated.

TIA,
Brad Olson

Brad,

Mid-May is the Spring Cup. It's a huge event and a big fund raiser for MORC. The past several years, it was at Buck Hill. This year, it is going to be at Harmon Park. I don't know the details, but we always need lots of help.

Thanks in advance,

Bob S.

Brad,

Awesome! If you'd like to be involved, I will have plenty of choices for you. I'm the MORC Events coordinator, and as Bob said the first thing on our plate for this year is the Spring Cup on May 20th. We will need lots of help with it.

Here's a short list of things for which we will need volunteer help.

-course prep/marking
-race packet prep
-food/water pickup
-parking attendants
-registration booth
-course marshalls
-timing
-site cleanup
-misc. other stuff

If any of that interests you, that'd be great. Involvlement level is completely up to you. We welcome as much help as you are able to give.

I'll be posting detailed volunteer needs as soon as I get a few more things planned out. But you have an idea for now. Thanks for posting, any help is much appreciated!
