yeah pretty close. My roommate and I also live in St. louis park but we commute to the U of M St. paul campus.

For bike paths: Take Calhoun paths to Harriet paths and on the South Side of Harriet, you can take Minnehaha Pkwy. That will get you to Ford bridge and then it's road from there, but you can take Ford Pkwy to Fairview and Turn left. Now you have a bike lane. Go North to Summit and take a right...more bike lane. Summit will pretty much take you into DT St. Paul after you go down the big hill.....:)

For road: This is a lot shorter. Take Greenway until it ends. Go South to Lake St and take a Left. Lake St. crosses river and turns into Marshal. This will pretty much take you all the way to DT St. Paul too. I would still rather get off Marshal and go South a few blocks and Take Summit. Summit is a nice ride with a bike lane.

What Rad said. It's probably one of the more scenic commutes to be found and a standard spring training ride from DT Mpls.

I would agree with the second route shad posted as being the fastest.

thanks! That kinda what I was thinking as well. How long does it take you guys to ride to the U in St. Paul? I was sitting in traffic the other day and thought "Man, I should be riding to work". I think I got into the Cheq FatTire so this would be a good training ride everyday!

This is my first post in these forums... long time lurker. I commute from Lake Harriet to the Capitol everyday, and I ride the Greenway/Summit route more often than not. Sometimes I take 38th across Minneapolis, but the greenway is a lot nicer. Rather than ride Lake from Hiawatha to the river, I go north on the Greenway to 26th and take that to the river. The road and traffic are a lot more biker friendly than Lake. It takes a little longer, but I think it's worth it.

elwrenn, how long does it take you to make that trip? We've got showers here at the DNR, so i'm not worried about stinkin', just about how early I need to roll out of bed and get on the trail.

It takes me between 40 and 50 minutes, depending on which bike I ride, which route I take, and if the traffic lights are catching me. The lights seem to make the biggest difference. It's a 13 mile ride from my place to my work.
