What am I looking at, and who are you going to kill with it? (Really. I am guessing it's some sort of a boom mike thing, right?)

I bet the neighbors are scared that their daughters are going to end up on the internet now. They thought they were safe on the second floor. hah!

That's a serious looking rig, gonna be kinda hard to fit in you backpack for FR shoots though.

Did the remote monitor come with it?

it's a 12/8' camera crane. Monitor was extra but you almost need one for the rig to be worth while, also got a camera control at the base that ya can't see in the pic...such a sweet set up...definitly be getting it out for some riding shots...think of a rig like this set up at DJs...oooh money!!! Start shooting for a break dancing peice tomorrow, so I already get to start playing with it!!!

Alex, if I can get a solid date when you know you'll have skiers, I'll come up.

cranes make even the boringest subject look awesome! i remembere there is that one shot in garden state where they had that huge crane above the pool and its just natalie portman swimming across the pool, but with the crane shot, it looks amazing. Also the show "LOST" anyone ever watch that? They have more dolly and crane shots than any other show. Enjoy the crane, its going to make some awesome shots

That sure puts the 10 foot handrail I nabbed out of my girlsfriends stairway that I used for overhead shots in my video last summer to shame :D.

I was checking out the one the guys were using at the Red Bull snocross event and it makes their shots look so sweet. That video screen was definately wel spent!

How far does it break down?

hahaha, the stuff ESPN uses puts me to shame, hahahah.

It breaks down into 3 4' sections. so I can either have it in a 8' length or 12' length, I just spen the evening shooting in the 8' length in an area with really low ceilings, very very cool shots...can't wait to get to the warehouse where we have a Red Bull dance floor and full lighting equipment...

I've always heard them called "jib booms", or "jib" for short. But then, I work with live video and IMAG more than recording.

(No, I'm not a video guy (or "vidiot" as we call them), I just work with them)

yeah they kick different terms around for them...the guy that owns the company calls it Kessler Crane, they could also be called jibs, booms and any number of other things like kick ass...they all mean the same thing.
