I was watching the clip on the skyway race and it got me thinking... has anyone ever done any helmet cam type video of any of the trails? Just a thought, but think it could be a cool addition to the site for those that are just a little farther out and need some convincing to make the drive to a trail they've never experienced before.

At one point we discussed it and if I remember correctly, we ran into a file size and bandwidth issue from our site host. One of the tech guys will correct the errors in that last sentence.

I am sure, those files can be huge, but now if we don't mind using Google video or Youtube we should be able to host them there and not have to pay for the bandwidth.

James Ford took some excellent videos of the local trails. His 1994 MORC film fest entry was great.

I would put my trust in Google Video to be around for awhile. I was thinking it would be fun to video tape Leb in its entirety and cut it down to the more exciting sections and host it on there.

Also since they allow you to imbed the video in your website we could work that into our trail reviews quite easily.

We had a film festival back 1994? ;)

I have helmet cam footage of almost every trail in the area from beginning to end. Some of it is on 8mm and some is on Mini DV. If any of it can be used, I'd be glad to donate it to the cause!

I've been thinking of putting together a DVD of each trail...but then what would I do with it?

Actually, Another rider (Stefan) and I had this idea of filming every trail in the state. Once completed, we'd produce a DVD with menus and sub-menus with trail info (length, difficulty, nearest hospital, etc.). Kinda like a tour of Minnesota Trails. This kind of thing could be sold for sure. Hell, I'd buy one.
