Does anyone know who the MORC equivalent club would be in the Denver area?
I looked on IMBAs web site and didn't find any one group that stood out.
I'm curious if anyone knows about the general organization of clubs in the Denver and surrounding areas.

Haven't found one yet. I have been looking for trail advocacy groups here, maybe just looking in the wrong place. I think a huge number of people here use mtbr.com forums for their mtb voicings.

The closest I found before my trip to Steam boat last year was:
http://www.trailcentral.com/index.php
The also have a link to
http://www.cdcc.org/
These sites do not get as much use of MORC. I guess they spend more time riding then computing.

Pioneerhockey doesn't have quite the same ring.

Yea.. although they won the last 2 national titles... and have won more than the Gophers. :embarass:
You could check out COPMOBA. They operate in the high desert / plateau parts of Colorado. I don't know if they have anything like the forums, but the trailworkers I met last year were really good people.

John,
IMBA is HQ'd in Boulder, just a short ride north. (But I'm sure you know that.) and they all ride the Front Range, so they could tell you who to hook up with, or maybe even go for a ride or two with you.
I know folks in the TCS MTB Colalition (http://tcsmbc.org/index.cfm) in Lakewood, (TCS = "Trail Conservation Services") which is a suburb of Denver. The are also in the Front Range MTB Patrol (http://www.frmbp.org), which I know is a really great group of riders. FRMBP was the next patrol in NMBP after North-Central. See if Craig Loomis is still active in TCS and Front Range. He is/was a Lakewood firefighter/paramedic (He is also on their EMS bike team) and was one of the first National patrollers, dating back to the Moab patrol in NORBA. He spent two days riding up on the CAMBA trails after the NMBP conference in Cable back in 1998.
If you move, will you still maintain the website?:eyeroll:
Ride safe,

Thanks for the great tips!
As for moving... no plans really. However... everyone can congratulate Liz on being hired by Frontier Airlines (based in Denver, of course) - she just got the news today!
BTW: I think I'll always be involved in the web site in one way or another... its kinda my baby after all.

Yup - their only base is Denver. Her plan is to commute once we figure out all the logistics etc. I'm hoping this will provide ample opportunity to sample the local trails. I hear they have some decent snowboarding in the area as well. :D
Its why I was asking about the local clubs... would be fun to hook up with a strong one out there and teach em' a thing or two about how real trails are built..

I understand she gets a certain amount of "buddy passes" each year. (no escort necessary type) Perhaps I could find a few people that might like to fly out there this summer and do some trail discovery with me....? ;)

Congrats Liz!!
On a trail building note, I think you will have to get used to a little longer walk to work on the trail. The trails out there aren't conveniently corralled into 80 acres.
Congrats to Liz! Hope the details work out smoothly for you two!

Congrat's Liz. Hope it all works out for you and John. Just send John back in the winter with some popcorn balls, because we all like the balls. Good luck and keep us posted.;)

Just don't forget this doesn't mean I'm leaving or moving.. don't write me off so quickly ;) There will be a lot of balls to enjoy on our group rides. (er.. popcorn I mean...)
I'm already counting down until September when the serious night riding starts up again... although we were thinking of doing some late Friday night rides through the summer.

I think most of the front range trails are located on open space areas and are managed by the counties they belong to. I have noticed they usually have a trail day each month here in Jefferson County that you can sign up to work. I also looked up Jefferson County volunteer services and they have a program that manages the trails in the open space (building and maintenance). You could probably really get your hands dirty here if you wanted. Here is the link. Then click on open space.

I'm not too familiar with the Denver area, but there is a MORC-like group in the Colorado Springs area called Medicine Wheel that has built some neat trails.
