View Full Version : Fun on the North Shore
Headed up to the north shore this past weekend for a little winter camping and river running. A few friends and I have been doing this at least once a winter for a while now.
The trip typically involves snowshoeing, eating, skiing, camping and hiking in some of the most amazing scenery in the state. This year, since Josh had built up a full-on snow bike, we included that as well.
We hit the Cut Face, Kadunce, Baptism, and Split Rock rivers. Had to sit out a rainstorm in Sven and Ole's on Saturday afternoon. That wasn't much of a problem though since our stomachs were good and ready for some chow.
Missed ya JJ, hope you're feelin' better.

Awesome! I'm jealous.
It was definitely a good time.
It's amazing, the stuff you can roll over with 3" tires on the Large Marge rims. You'd be nearly unstoppable with the 3.7 Endomorphs.

Looks like a great time! Is that a custom made frame?

Yup. Josh has access to a tig welder at his job and did it on his own. The frame is an old stumpjumper. He added tubing to re-space the rear stays. Then made a fork out of an old crown/steerer and stanchions made from tubing from another old bike.
It got him through all 135 miles of the Arrowhead ultra so he must have done it up right.

Very cool! TIG welding is on my "learn how to do it before I die" list. :D

Dang looked like you guys had a great time. I pretty much laid around the house and took some tranquilizers (adult strength beverage to relax the muscles and 3 days off of work). Was walking well enough by Sunday night go figure. Great pictures Troy.
