I'm looking to pick up some summer wheels/tires for my '04 WRX. I made the mistake of getting some all season tires for my car this winter that were a little to all season. I was thinking of trying to find a set of factory 16" wheels and get some summer specific rubber. I've seen some sets go on ebay for reasonable amounts of money, but I'd rather pick something up locally.

I don't autocross race- just want the car to handle like it's supposed to when the roads are free of snow. (and I also don't want to drop a ton of dough. I'd rather spend it on my mountain bike.)

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Falken Azenias(sp) pretty good tire from what I've heard.

Last year I decided that I wanted summer and winter specific sets myself. I bought some Bridgestone Blizzack's on my stock wheels and those tires rock. For a summer set, I picked up a set of 4 Yokohama AVS ES100 and decent set of wheels from www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com) for I believe 750 last July. I have no complaints with them and they handle really well on my tiburon. Some people have complained about the road noise, but all tires with higher performace tendencies will be that way. I haven't really noticed it much

I like the Bridstone RE 750, good all around tire, not too loud, excellent in the rain, good performance, decent wear. Price is somewhat reasonable. Tirerack.com is good place for tires. For used wheels I'd go to www.Nasioc.com (http://www.Nasioc.com) or www.mnsubaru.com (http://www.mnsubaru.com) classifieds. You can get used wheels for probably $200- $400 depending how new and the seller.

The RE750 are terrible in the snow, summer only. I agree with the Blizzak recommendation. Nokian Hakkapleta's are really good snow tires also.

I put Toyo T1-Rs on my car for the summer time and Toyo RA-1 for the track. Check out edgeracing.com for the best prices. Falken Azeni's RT-615 are a great tire but not good in the wet. Also look at the Hankook Z212s.

I can't help you with wheels, OEM all the way on my car.

I will sell you a set of OEM wheels off of my 02 wrx wagon. I put some new wheels on last fall and the OEMs have just been sitting in my garage collecting dust.

The rims have the stock tires on them right now. The tires would work for a bit while you find some solid rubber, but need to be replaced shortly.

Tire choice.... I have always gone on to tirerack.com and researched the ratings on user reviews of the tires. That seems to give a green thumb like myself a pretty good idea of what is a good buy.

How does $200 sound for the wheels?

I had the Hakkas on my OE rims - fantastic.

I had 17" P1s with Pirelli P-Zeros for summer. Solid set up. Technically all-seasons, but with a summer bent. If new go to Tirerack. If used, just go to NASIOC and you'll find something.

Thor-

I'm interested in your wheels- what kind of condition are they in? Any big dings or anything else?

thanks!
