The high point of the race for me was watching Peter O'Donnell try this Ice Racing stuff for the first time... STUD-FREE!! To his credit, he toughed it out and finished the B-race. Apparently young Peter had enough 'fun' to be talked into doing the A-race as well... after being loaned a bike with studded tires of course. As you can see, Peter did much better!!

Next week... same times... same place... with a picnic/BBQ added at the end. Hopefully more people will show up this Saturday to share in the FUN!!

Take Care!!

Good question. After today....who knows. I am sure it will be posted if the race gets cancelled. Maybe we can just do a race in the parking lot with cones.......bikecross!

Oh ya. It might be wet. It might be slippery. But the show will go on!!!!

I'm going down the the lake/course tonight. If anything should change, I'll get the word out tomorrow, but everyone who was planning on showing up, should still plan to do so!!!!

 Yay! Last week was much fun on the best ice race course I've ridden. I wonder if Mr. Ford will loan me his snorkel for the weekend. . .

How does the SS gearing match up with the "other" ice races?

There isn't the hill, but there is enough land riding and climbing that I was happy to be running 32x18. For comparison, I ran 32x17 for the second, all ice race at Bush Lake.

Well I'm planning on comeing. Just wondering, anyone have any idea what a person should wear. I have neopreen booties, but I would imagine my legs are going to get soaked. For winter riding I've been going with wool pants and rubberbands. What do you guys think?

If it is anything like the 2nd Chilly Chili, you will be soaked head to toe. Everywhere. Wear fleece or wool insulation and have a change of dry clothes to jump into after you finish.

I don't think it helps to try to keep the water from getting into your boots, etc. I think it is more important that whatever you wear encourages the water to DRAIN. At the Chilly Chili, my Lake riding boots proved that they can hold alot of water.
